McDonough contract starts next season. Expect him to be in Abbotsford to finish out the year

You are right that they aren't NHL ready players but they are very young 20 year olds that are playing in the 2nd best mens league in the world already.

Probably further developed players than most of Van's prospect pool.

Takhar has same point total as Panarin in the KHL at that age. Little bit behind Kuzmenko and Kratsov as 21 year olds.

There's a good chance he could become an NHL talent and why wait. Get him early in there early and develop him for free right?

Signing kids from the CHL as 20 year olds. Why not also sign guys that are performing in a much better league at the same age. They are free.

If they aren't at least looking at all leagues for talent, then they aren't doing their jobs.

Heck a buddy of mine in Abbotsford was at a senior men's game, when the top prospects game was on and he ran Into a scout watching that game,although said scout was a friend of one of the players on the ice.

Not sure playing 3-5 minutes a game is useful for any player developing in some of those league, especially the KHL, where they seldom play young players more than 8 minutes a game.

An older prospect, but McDonough is an interesting player. Deadly one-timer from sharp angles off the circle on PPs, some great small-area handling. Playmaking grew leaps & bounds. His stride is the biggest limiter. Will have to hit the ground running development wise.

Man, VAN needs to hire a speed skating coach!

Busygin the defender I checked dozen games, he played anywhere from 11-16 minutes a night.

Mingachyov was playing 8 minutes a night pretty steady, not bad to score 19 points playing 8 minutes a night though.

Just shows how much Podz was shafted because they knew he wasn't sticking around.

Now, don't take this as me defending the kid, but when Van fans think the player is walking, they act like we are losing a kid who will be a 1st line PPG player/guaranteed top pairing dman. How dare they not sign him!

Just watched a period of a Liiga game with that big @ss Finnish defender. He makes Tryamkin look like Pronger. Skates well but other than that.

Didn't see a lot of Lenni Hämeenaho in that period. Skates well, has a Beauvillier type of game. Should be taken late 1st/early 2nd for pretty good value.
