This game is important enough that I may take a chance and watch the game on one of those shaky sites with a web address from Northwest Mongolia. - JohnScammo
I've used a few of them this year for ESPN+ games.
Not happy that tonight's game is on ESP+. - JohnScammo
ESPN+ is such bullpoop. As if we don't pay enough to watch the games. Total screw job by the league. Also, their broadcasts are horrible. They don't even know anything about the Islanders.
I don't love him but he doesn't bother me all that much either. I don't care too much about announcers but Leah Hextall is just in a league of her own in terms of being terrible. There's just long pauses of dead-air, she's monotone, her "excitement" sounds obviously manufactured, and she can't get half the names of the players right.

I've heard more excitement in the broadcast of the 5th mile of the NYC marathon.

It's all politics naturally. The NHL has gone all in on injecting women into the game at every turn. In some cases it pays off with someone like AJ. In most cases it comes off feeling like a square peg jammed in for no reason, like Leah. She's awful and everyone knows she's awful yet we're all supposed to give her a mulligan or else we're just bigots. Note how they just had to get female skaters involved in the all star game as well.
The problem none of the sjw's ever get is when you try to force feed stuff, you just create resentment.

I have no problem with women calling games. AJ does a fantastic job. But yeah, complain about Leah Hextall and all the sudden you're a misogynist

Right. There are others who are nearly just as bad. For anyone who watches the NFL, Beth Mowins is well-known as being completely awful in her play by play calls. Philly sportscaster Mike Missanelli lost his job for saying that one of the big problems with female sportscasters are they just sound 'unnatural' when commentating a sport. He isn't wrong. Mowins sounds like a female trying to do a comedy impersonation of Marv Albert. It's terrible. They shoe-horned her into a MNF game and proceeded to promote how wonderful a female was broadcasting the game. That's the problem, they were more interested in just 'getting a female in there' than making sure it was a good female for the role. It's all about checking the identity box to say "Yep, we did it!"
