Didn’t they just lose 5-0 to the Blackhawks a few days ago?
- Vukota

Yeah but that appears to be more of a blip then anything. They’re 7-3 in their last ten.

They did, after winning five in a row scoring at least five goals in every game. They've scored 32 goals in their last seven games

The other team that has been quietly hanging around is the Florida Panthers. They have won their last 2 games, both against decent teams, Vegas and the Penguins. Unlike a lot of other teams, they stood pat at the trade deadline, so they are still a dangerous team. They only trail the Isles by 6 points and they have 2 games in hand.

No question, the Isles need to keep winning, starting Saturday against the Capitals.

Have you seen their goalies? I’d be shocked if they are still in it in a week or two

It doesn't seem like the Tkachuk trade benefitted either Calgary or Florda, although Tkachuk's numbers are awesome. That said, Florida certainly has the talent to outpace the Isles if they don't keep it up

The Panthers are a much bigger threat then the Sens IMO. Pitt is on the verge of collapsing but with Malkin and Crosby can’t rule them out

You expect them to keep that up for the next month plus? They are on their 3rd and 4th string goalies so if they want to stay in this race they’ll have to continue scoring 5 or 6 goals a game and I just don’t see it

We'll see. They're a young team that really seems to be finding their game. Goaltending is unquestionably their achilles heel.

I just think come this time of year teams start playing playoff hockey and I just don’t see how they can keep up that scoring pace. Like you said though we’ll see. Honestly after Barzal went down I never figured we would be talking about playoff seedlings 🤣🤣

I've thought this for like the past 5 years, but here they are again in the thick of it

Yeah, I saw that outcome. Ironically, despite their good play of late, the Isles still need a little help to make the playoffs. The good news is that, excluding last night's game, the Isles have a 63% chance of making the playoffs.

Soo I hate to admit when I am wrong...But the closer I have watch Romanov, the more I have to agree that a 1st was an overpayment. I am always in favor of giving up a draft pick for an established player. However in this case it appears to be an overpayment.

Let the I old you soo being. Also, given the way Mayfield has played, consistently taking bad penalties. Unless something changes there. I am okay with moving on from him.

I think a lot of people thought he was. Kouvula hasn't been great but Clutter even when healthy hasn't brought much the last two years.

They are probably going to give Barzal as much time as they can.
If the Team is lucky. They may get him back before playoffs

Most young defenders don’t establish themselves very quickly. Many NHL scouts say it takes about 300 NHL games before they figure things out (or don’t).

As Romanov is well shy of that mark, I’m gonna hold off on any pronouncement of his worth. Next year should tell us what we actually have in him.
