The move I would like to see now is if possible, flip Beauvillier for a 2nd/3rd. If you can't get Boeser or Miller or Garland moved out, might as well shop Beau since he's putting up points. - NorthNuck
We would have to give up assets for teams to take Beauvilier. He has no value. Putting up points with Petterson for 2 weeks doesn't change anything. Tyson Barrie was putting up points too...
Honestly at this point have no idea if JTM gets traded. I would have thought no it’s not possible for cap reasons at this TDL. Canucks seem to be in surprise the fans mode.
Loui Cost nothing to acquire.... OEL Cost a top 10 pick. Far worse. - SMP8719
He played worse than Myers, and i hate Myers, screwed our cap for longer. But yeah the top 10 pick is a good point. Both just terrible moves, im sure we both agree there.

I think the Miller signing was the writing on the wall. They were not going to tear it down after signing that contract. That signing reeked of retool. - bloatedmosquito
I think it was more a case of not wanting to lose an asset for next to nothing, although it backfired on them .
This move kinda reminds me of the trade for JT Miller. Trading a first round pick in the 14-20 range for immediate helps. That didn’t work out so well either. - LeftCoaster
It didnt?! His value has gone way up since then imo.
So now the shock or surprise of the latest trade has sunk in. Can we be objective?
It’s very rare and hard to get a proven young top 4 RHD. A position of greatest need for the Canucks.
The issue is the sacrifice of restocking prospects. Did anyone think it wasn’t going to cost, to fill the most glaring weakness, on the team? - Quinn's Quest
Ask yourself why Detroit was looking to get rid of him and see what the potential answers are.

Agreed.
It's similar to the JTM for a 1st trade, in that many people freaked out about the timing and cost, but i think it's been worth it.
(I would have traded JTM this year on an expiring deal if i had my way, but that ship has sailed).
I'm optimistic that this trade will play out similarly.

Let’s rewind here back to summer. Canucks had hopes they could score and the defense would hold with Demko. Okay so Demko had injury issues and shaky start. The defense couldn’t keep the puck out. Not to mention PK.
So Canucks now add a two way top 4 RSD who can also PK. Plus Bear and some speed at forward. Also a coach to add defensive structure.
Maybe more changes coming. Seems their thinking is Petey and QH keep improving it’s enough to add pieces that gives them a reset.

Remember the Captain Betha Bo is out. All hail Alpha Miller.

Completely wrong mindset on your part IMO. They aren’t “getting rid” of him. It’s called asset management, when you build depth within your organization you have young players pushing from below, which they have.
When you’re a poorly ran organization you don’t have that push from below, ie: the Vancouver Canucks. So you have to spend assets to acquire those young players.
