32. Sean Walker or Matt Roy
Right Defense, Los Angeles Kings
Ages: 28 | 27
Stats: 46 GP, 2 G, 7 A, 9 Pts | 53 GP, 6 G, 10 A, 16 Pts
Contracts: Both 1 more season, $2.65m | $3.15m AAVs
Scoop: It’s a bit of a logjam on the right side of the Kings’ blueline, which is typically a good problem to have. The problem is that neither one of Walker or Roy is really moving Los Angeles in a contending direction, they both have one more year on their contracts, and Jordan Spence is waiting in the wings in AHL Ontario. There is no guarantee that one of them will move, but the Kings have a surplus, and there is room for improvement. The deal may wait until the summer, but it’d be a surprise to see both back in a Kings uniform next season.

I'd be surprised if they moved Roy.

I am Not a naysayer,, and I am fully enjoying the ride. I just think things can b done that could make that ride even better without hurting the future of this Team. If anyone you should know that I would think you would, I have been pretty steadfast in what I think. Adams is steering the ship, he has done good things and IMO there's things that could have been done better. The Ship is going in the right direction, but they could upgrade there Engine a bit, could do wonders.

Sutter spends a good 2 minutes talking Perrault, the old Aud and a Sabres Blackhawks series. Starts about 3 and half minutes in.

They need to win 3 of the next 4. This will be a good judge to see who this team really is.

does Adams get credit for trying to dump Tage for a 5th round pick?
- homiedclown

Another example of sometimes the best moves, are no moves at all.

There is an element of luck in any circumstance. What happens if Drew Bledsoe never tore his ACL ? Tom Brady may have never had a career.

The fact of the matter is, KAGM has hit home runs with his contract structuring and his drafts look promising (although not perfect).

He is also in the Chychryn and Meier sweepstakes and Jost has been as impactful as any of the UFA’s we were pining to sign (Copp, Marchment) as examples.

I fail to see the negatives apart from people putting his entire success/failure as a GM making the playoffs this year when he just opened up a 7 year cup window for us…..

I am wondering if the final price on Timo is decreasing with the last couple of trades, including The Cat which have been somewhat underwhelming. Also by the Rags getting Tarasenko and leaving Kane on the market from a supply perspective.

You and I have been on the same page on many roster and pipeline aspects. Meier's utility to this team is another.

- IonSabres

It could, nobody has really said anything other than 3 assets. But most teams involved with Timo, those assets are going to have later 1st rnd picks involved. It's the prospects and secondary pieces that will probably win that trade. Buffalo has a lot of the 2nd phase of that trade.

I agree, but the backend, say the last 5 games could be of the 10 before the TDL could be huge. Think there all Easter Conference games

Agree very much so with the first part. The more one looks at the Jost pickup... that was a home run. He's made two very important secondary players productive. Granted, Vic has been a streaky player his entire career, but we can all agree he's playing as good as he ever has right now and through January right when we needed him.

Like I said yesterday, I look at this as Bruins type build. If we miss the playoffs this year having not acquired anything before the trade deadline I will be disappointed, but I understand. But, anyone who wants to flame him all offseason for missing the playoffs again has every right to do so. Part of his job is to end the longest playoff drought in the NHL and one of the longest in North American Pro Sports. If he fails to do so this year, part of it is his choice the future was one again more important than the present. That's a choice not a reality.

Yeah and an NHL GM of a cup contender didn’t even think he was worth the 5th round pick and a contract slot.

The Sabres then continued to develop him and the rest is history.

The Sabres could have had Ehlers for Risto years ago too.

If my aunt had a skinner she’d be my uncle

I hated the fact we elevated Adams to GM at first, however, unlike some on here I have changed my tune after what he’s done the last couple of years.

Everyone loves what Buffalo is doing outside of the Sabres fans on hockeybuzz.

It’s hilarious

Vegas gives us no respect. Sabres money line is +108.

F them i dropped a hundo on the boys.

4 - 0

Hoping for an Andy.

If UPL is in the net, 5 - 2 Sabres.

Healthy Tage, rested Okposo and Z train. Calgary came a long way for a loss.

- lacaprup

The Sabres have been off for 10 days and have 2 practices since.

They will be slow and rusty and it’s kids day. So automatic L

Adams is doing what he think is best for the Sabres to win a cup someday.

Some will be pissed that he isn’t selling out to win this year, but will refuse to look at how well this team is set up to look for the next 5-7 years.

Sooner or later the future becomes the present, but some on here seem to forget the Sabres don’t cease to exist once this season is over.

I have yet to see someone hate adams

he is in a corner and will have to make decisions sooner rather than later

some view adams as a top 5 gm

some refuse to bend the knee and see how he does with his next few moves

he had 30 mil in cap space and got Lyubushkin, Bishop, Comrie and Hinostroza

the next 18 months will show us what kind of gm adams is IMO

Basically you are saying. He hasn’t broken the rebuild process yet.

He hasn’t Tim murrayed it

Like I mentioned before. Adams wants a cheapest deal possible for a player with term and good cap hit

Chick run for savoie type trade isn’t happening. He will protect his drafted players

I believe gerbe said during the draft they loved Rosen. So I can’t see them moving him either based on what he said

Na, the goal posts for him to kick through will always move back by them.
The interesting thing to me, is how they react when he continues to kick down the middle with plenty of distance....just move them further back, or finally realize the fine job he is doing.
My money is on them continuing to move them back.
