How would y’all feel if the only deadline move made is announcing the signing of Johnson who joins once his season is finished?
- riptheguard

I would feel pretty lousy because Levy also needs to sign here after his college season is over. If Levy doesn't sign = serious problem. Portillo is a puss and won't sign here - he's too scared to compete with Levy

For anyone else visiting the Tampa area and looking for a place to stay, I have a condo on the beach in clearwater. A sunset every night, right out the window :-).

I have blasted no one except the Buffalo Sabres pool reporters (and GR slightly).

Why do you interpret a question that isn't a blowjob as blasting the team?

- lacaprup

I'm not talking about your posts today about WGR. I couldn't care less about the questions because every coach, player, GM, Scout, etc for a team is trained to give blah answers. It is what it is.
Or they could all turn into Mike Harrigan and embarrass themselves everytime they open their mouth.

I was talking about your posts throughout the season blasting our young players who are clearly in an early development and learning phase. It is rare that one comes in and sets the house on fire. Your expectations of young players is equal to a that of a seasoned veteran...they aren't there yet.

Lol

This is just blatant denial. People were sure Jack Quinn was moving Victor Olofsson out of town last year. Do we really need to bring back old threads?

- lacaprup

Yes, PLEASE DO.
You won't find me there.
You will find me posting about trading Olo, but never because a rookie, specifically Quinn was going to replace him.

I have been very, very consistent with expecting Quinn to be slow this season, his 1st...just like he was in Juniors and then when he graduated to the AHL.

We beat this to death earlier. Nobody claimed Quinn would score 20 this year or be Olo's replacement this year.

My sources say trading for chickman would kill the room. His favourite player is himself. Signed Someteamates
The best move for KA this year is to not answer his phone

- Freddie krug

Yep, he was going to compete for the Calder by scoring 12 - 15. OMG, people were drooling over him.

So seasoned veteran Jack Quinn is only supposed to score 20. Geesh. Seems like they overhyped him.

You called the GM, who is on a current trajectory to barely miss the playoffs (your doomsday scenario) a top 5 GM because he signed two good players to good contracts.

In what universe would him making a good solid trade and breaking a decade+ long drought, going a long way in helping rehab the Sabres image to other players around the league, not be infinitely more impressive/important?

- sbroads24

How many other teams have their top 2 C’s signed for $14.3M for the next 7 years and are the caliber of Tage and Cozens ?

New Jersey ?

Not a long list, but if you want to continue to undersell Adam’s in those extensions feel free

I am still drooling over him. He has slumped lately but that is expected for a rookie at his age. Not sure what your point is.

Top 2 centers that Adams had 0 part in acquiring.

The contract for Tage is excellent. The Cozens one is good. I’m not sure it’s that big of a bargain.

I mean seriously what exactly is the benefit of those contracts if they aren’t going to spend to the cap?

All I ever said was he isn't on pace for 20 goals. This is not a debatable point. It was in the context of a larger conversation about how Buffalo Sabres reporters ask the exact same questions to Kevyn Adams every chance they get. As I threw out several other ideas of questions that could possibly be asked besides the ever popular, "how does it feel to see fans coming back," a question about expections of Quinn was one of several, and not, in fact, the most prominant one i offered. It was latched onto for whatever reason.

I have not said "Quinn is a bust." "Quinn should be benched." "Quinn should be demoted a line." If anything I was making a slight criticsm of the staff for hyping this guy like he was Vanek coming out, and the fact the entire board bought it and dint want to admit afterwards.

Unfortunately it was rumored that we won't be doing this. Not sure why - I wouldn't want to help an eastern conference team but there is no reason we wouldn't take a guy on an expiring contract from the west.

We should always be weaponing the cap, especially if a player is on their last year

You can't help but beat this to death. It's a roster build. The kids are growing and the fans are coming back.

What does Tage make if they waited till this offseason to extend him ?

Like ffs they saved 5-6M in cap per year by signing Tage a year early and by not bridging Cozens.

If you think Cozens is good now, how about in a couple of years when he adds another 15-20 pounds and Quinn/Peterka are breaking out in their own right ?

Drafting and salary cap management are the two most important ingredients to a cup contender and how many teams have the U23 talent and salary cap flexibility the Sabres have ?

Peterka and Kulich would go top 15 in redrafts.

Ostlund looks like he can be a solid middle 6 player in a few years.

Devon Levi is having another incredible year
