Laugh if you want. If Girgs and Okposo didn't have tenure, and were treated as regular hockey players, they'd at least rotate out. Neither handle the workload well anymore.
- Lunaion

I have brought this up numerous times.

Girgensons and Okposo are 4th liners. What do you really expect?? They grind, take up minutes, and play on the PK

Who are you replacing them with??

Thats why I brought up McCabe as a defensive d-man... something we need... add in his physicality and he's someone we could use back here dearly.
- DirtyDan

If you get that too 4 d. You fix that

Let’s say we trade for chyrun (hypothetically speaking)

You bump joker down to 3rd pair and run

Dahlin - big Sam
Power - Chick -run
Joker - Lybuskin

Just fixed the problem and made our d core a lot better

Vs McCabe. Lol

Having 4 LD together and the 2 RHD together isnt ideal IMO.

McCabe is also more cost effective. Don't spend the farm still get a solid d-man.

You could slot in an enormous amount of players and get better results.

They arent top tier 4th liners.

Girgs gets paid like a 3rd liner while producing half as much as other 4th liners.

Okposo looks slow and out of place in over half the games he plays.

You're changing the subject. If Asplund rotated in for Girgs and Okposo, is it any worse? Potentially better, with fresher legs?

Girgensons has been elite defensively this year in tough matchups. Might end up on a few Selkie ballots

People think PP is about skill and schemes while PK is about hard work but quite often it's the opposite.

There was no room for a significant forward add. Because Quinn and JJ were going to be solid top 9 contributors and never have struggles
- sbroads24

There was move, however, it would mean moving on from one if not both Mittelstadt and Olofsson.

They used their forward add on Tyson Jost who has been a great addition.

Without moving on from Mitts/Olofsson what was your offseason plan to add top 6 help and still give Quinn and Peterka consistent top 9 minutes ?

Quinn and Peterka, along with Cozens, have been getting consistent 4th line 5v5 minutes since at least the start of 2023.

They were also a legitimate second line prior to that for nearly two months before hitting the recent rookie wall.

Still doesn’t answer where you were putting Mitts and Olofsson though for this top 6 forward add that Sbroads was humming for

In 280 minutes as a line Quinn-Cozens-Peterka have an xGoals% of 56.1%.

Have then been sheltered recently, sure.

For forward lines with a minimum of 150 minutes, they rank 28th in the entire league.

Giving Quinn and Peterka top 6 roles has been a good idea this year, and will only benefit the team in future years since we are ripping the bandaid off now.

Andrew Copp has less goals and only 6 more pts than Quinn in 7 more games.

The Red Wings and Senators “won the offseason” and made a bunch of splashy moves only to go absolutely nowhere this year.

While I admittedly am posting this for Boss’ pleasure 🤭, but also posting it for those who may think Erik Karlsson’s points would be worth the cap hit and term. Dude is just not a defender, what the hell was he doing on this play? That’s some Tenacious D right there 🙄

imagine where the sabres would be this season if they strived for better than bishop, lyubushkin, comrie and hinostroza

probably close to where the leafs and bolts are right now

All I know is, none of those aforementioned guys are signed past next offseason.

Where as if I put in a half decent effort, which I won’t, I can find you a ton of guys traded for this past offseason/signed long term in UFA that will be boat anchors on their new teams within a couple seasons (in the case of Jack Campbell, the moment the ink was dry)

Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don’t make.
