Hell, I once heard Jeremy White ask Don Granato a good, tough question. "Don are you and the staff aware of Rasmus Asplund's defensive metrics, what the advanced stats say about him?" He asked this while Raspy was healthy scratched. This was a good question. Been a while since then.

Again, what exactly would you have them ask? The question you posed was a complete softball question. You'd have a point if there was a controversy on the team that wasn't addressed, but that clearly isn't the case. By definition these interview are doing to be vanilla.

I actually thought both Jeremy and Howard did a good job of asking some questions without coming right out and being like are you trading for Chicken Man or Timo.

Howard asked the question about giving out a big contract to a player you would have to acquire with via trade, and Jeremy I believe asked about the minutes the top 4 has been playing.

They're not softball questions when you have to take into account they can't come out and ask if they are looking at certain players specifically and I think they got more out of Adams that the usual we look at our roster everyday type answer.

This isn't Tim Murray who would be playing poker with you and showing his hands to their entire table.

Waaaaaaaaay too early to say that as Adams has never had a playoff team. His only real assignments over the last 2 years were to draft well and not do anything that TMGM would have done.

That's weird considering people are calling him a top 5 GM

"Kevyn, Tyson Jost really seems to have taken ownership of his line. You can see he and Mitts talking constantly on the bench, and Vic's production has shot through the roof. Is that line something the staff sees as long-term line on this team?"

"Yeah, he really has. He has been a really positive addition to our team and lots of word salad

Ostlund is crushing it this year. He is better than Lekkerimaki and Ohgren

We got a good one here. He is gonna be a star in my opinion.

If we are giving up Ostlund its for Meier or Chychrun.

- sabresfan69

Hes been playing very well vs men. I can see him as a long time nhl, not a star but a useful piece

I completely agree with you. Not sure if you saw the whole thread - I don't know what they could ask him that would really generate anything that is going to be overly-interesting. Adams has to keep things close to the vest and there aren't any controversies.

He gets an A+ for signing Botts players. No debating that.

His offseason acquisitions for the Sabres were Vinnie Hinny (bust)
Boosh (if the season ended now bust)
Comrie (see Boosh).

In season add of Jost - A
In season add of Clague - ehhh a C i guess

His drafts are as yet undetermined. Every one of us expected at least 20 goals and perhaps more from Quinn this year. He isn't on pace for 20.

You're purposely ignoring the long term part because this argument is getting worse and worse for you.

Meh, prospects turn into suspects.

I’m excited for the future but also know some of these kids are just not going to pan out.

- ImThatGuy

A lot of them won't pan out. And just wait until our firsts are in the 15 and up range and opposed to top 10 every year

So Mitts and Vic are long-term Sabres?

I ignored it in the fake response because Adams wouldn't get within 10 miles of answering that question. That's my point.

I did not expect 20 from Quinn, there were a few of us that said he will most likely struggle in his first year as a pro and be wildly inconsistent.

Happens to a lot of rookies, he needs to come out next year though and start to show he can be a good goal scorer for this team.

It is their job to ask. Not to ask for the 357th time "how does it feel to see fans back."

Carrier is more my type then great28.

Both expansion teams took good solid players, with borgen.

I cant believe posters aren't more excited about the 1,2 punch at center for 14 million.

Seems like the exact opposite of July 1st when we briere and drury

No, not if you are somewhat educated on Quinn's history of adapting to new leagues.
Sure other 1st year players have come into the league on fire. He isn't one of them.

Rosen
2023 2nd

My personal opinion, from the trade partners perspective as I see it I think the first trade proposal makes sense. Not so much for the second one. Just my opinion.

It's their job to ask questions that they know he can't / won't answer? No GM in the league is going to answer a question about roster's in the future during a season. Should we just hand him a spreadsheet and ask him to check all the names that are going to be here next year? That is absurd.

Well, sure. If/when they are good enough they will be here. I don't get the idea of "wasting assets". It isn't like we have kids knocking on the door right now in Roch.
- Slump Buster

Kulich, Savoie will be interesting cause he can't play in Rochester. Rousek has looked good. The Sabres have a very young Core as is and most are getting signed to long-term contracts. Some of are prospects will never play for the Sabres and some of those prospects will be good. You can't just stash them in Rochester because of the Bloom's Nadeau’s and others that will be here shortly. It becomes a contract thing to.

20 seems high
Jack has 8 in 43 games, the leader wyatt johnson and kirill marchenkio with 13 ... nerniers if you want to add him in the mix with 17 but he did play 10 games last year

its not like hes been a bust and has been in mor limited roles than those above him

Listen to other markets on occassion if you have the time or inclination. Wfan in NY. Tsn in Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto. It's not all Pollyanna everywhere. Asking him to talk about a productive line and the players on it is not an unfair question. He may avoid it, but it can and should be asked by the press pool. Instead they ask banal, inane crap...multiple times.

Yes but he's locked in as a second liner for the next undetermined amount of years and that's why theres no room to add players
