I remember the days where we hung all of our hopes on one or two kids that were nowhere near their caliber. Crazy how much we have coming.

Meh, prospects turn into suspects.

I’m excited for the future but also know some of these kids are just not going to pan out.

Plus all the young players on the Sabres already, that will affect things also.

How many reporters in the last month have had a chance to ask Kevyn Adams questions? He's doing an interview right now on GR. It's always the same questions all over again. I have personally not heard Adams speak about Vic since Vic's last contract. Wouldn't it make a little sense for someone, anyone to ask:
"Hey, Kevy, Victor Olofsson is on pace 38 goals on a great value contract. Great job there. How does the organization view him going forward?"

Instead we get so many of these "how does it feel" "what does it mean" garbage recycled over and over again.

Sure, but they don't all have to. That's what is so great about having so many prospects.

How could the answer to this question possibly be any more interesting than the other questions? You or I could both anticipate exactly what he would say.

I don't know. What if he said, "Victor has given us a ton of value at his position. We look forward to his next deal with us?"

And, when the "how does it feel to have your top two centers...." has been asked to the same man at least 7 times in the previous two days, and "what is is like to see the fans coming back and being excited..." has been asked 357 times in the past year, yeah asking a specific question about a specific player might be a little more interesting. I haven't heart a question about Joker. I haven't heard anything except knob slobbing about Sammy.

No they don't, but then sooner than later you need to use them to improve your team or it's just a wasted asset.

And this moves the needle for you.... how? This is the in-depth questioning you are looking for? Should the followup question be "what is your stance on rainbows?".

If anything I see the Sabres adding Chicken man by the deadline and maybe a depth player

If Timo is going to happen and based on the KA interview just now, a question Howard posed is how would the organization feel about trading for someone and handing out a big contract to a player that hasn't been on the team go over?

Adams didn't sound completely against it but didn't sound like he was high on that idea.

Timo is a draft day trade no matter where he ends up IMO.

Well, sure. If/when they are good enough they will be here. I don't get the idea of "wasting assets". It isn't like we have kids knocking on the door right now in Roch.

Vic has been a constant target of trade theorists, yet we've not heard our GM talk about him in months. Yes, that absolutely moves the needle for me. Or a question about Mitts, or a tough question about Quinn or Sammy. Or a question about Jost for that matter. Or a question about production from 28.

there are about 30 questions I could come up with before "How does it feel to see the fans coming back?" for the 357th time.

I agree, I don't think he is going after scoring. If we can get ChickRun that give us one hellofa top 4.

So you're keeping track of how often he talks about each of the players? I've heard most of his interviews - he seems to have talked about every aspect of the team. Other than his position on the TDL there isn't anything that anyone could ask him about the team that is going to generate an interesting response. That's not how it works.

Sabres and WGR550 are in a contract together there is no way in hell Howard and Jeremy are calling out the GM with hard hitting questions, they are and will always be softball questions.

Yeah, I'd say I've listened to most if not all of his interviews. He gets asked the same questions over and over again. Some of them are good questions and topical, like about having your top two centers signed, but they get asked by every reporter over and over. It's like no one has the grey matter to come up with a new questions. How many actual times does Adams need to answer how it feels to see fans in the arena? I guess not enough yet, because it had to be asked this morning again.

Meanwhile, "Kevyn, Tyson Jost really seems to have taken ownership of his line. You can see he and Mitts talking constantly on the bench, and Vic's production has shot through the roof. Is that line something the staff sees as long-term line on this team?" That's not worthy of asking.

I don't need them to argue with Adams. It's not hard to come up with creative questions. I'm not even blaming Howard and Jeremy, they just happen to be interviewing him today. It's our garbage reporter pool (another reason Hank needs a press pass, EK) who doesn't do their job. Lance, Mike, Paul all ought to be one person. They offer the exact same thing for the most part.

Yes he did, know go get Dahlin signed for 7 x 9.5m Avv, bridge Power for 3yrs x 6.5m Avv and you basically have your whole core locked up for 4 more Years.
- Buff36

This is exactly the plan I came up with as well.
Sure the exact $may change, but you numbers are generally in-line with my thoughts as well

Totally agree, your just not going to get that out of GR reporters. They essentially work for the Sabres...

Well off course the next 9 or 10 games will show a bigger picture. If they roll out of this break and put a nice run together than I would keep him to, but if they lay a egg here in those games I would move him if the right deal was offered. And it might not diminish his value, but if it helps the Sabres I think you have to think about it this year, basically next 3 weeks should tell the story.
- Buff36

I don't expect the Sabres to do both moves of Chick-fil-A and Meier, so dome of this moot in reality ...
But IF Adams did acquire both, and IF Olo was not included in the trade return, then for this season I would love to hold onto him for the PO run. His scoring on L3 with an enhanced L2 w/ Meier coupled with more scoring from the D would be pretty friggin dangerous.
Can always trade Olo during the offseason to achieve a more balanced Cap and get those assets you spoke of.
No need to get rid of him immediately.

Again, what exactly would you have them ask? The question you posed was a complete softball question. You'd have a point if there was a controversy on the team that wasn't addressed, but that clearly isn't the case. By definition these interview are doing to be vanilla.

small market problem. GR will never have competition. I think 1240 tried a local show once, but it didn't stick. Someone would have to be able to back a loser for a couple years before they took the market. there really isn't enough listeners in Buffalo for a two sports talk stations. BEN is GRs competition, and I would guess they have more listeners.

I thought the rankings were:

Savoie
Kulich
Ostlund
Rosen

Just an opinion. Would be against the odds if 2 of these guys were actual good nhl producers.

- Boss34

Ostlund is crushing it this year. He is better than Lekkerimaki and Ohgren

We got a good one here. He is gonna be a star in my opinion.

If we are giving up Ostlund its for Meier or Chychrun.
