He would look great on the wing with Cozens long term.

Getting him and a top 4 D, then the NHL is on notice. But there are still question marks in net

- Stripes77

If we only get to pick one thing, this is where I'm at, probably because I'm very high on JJ and Quinn.

Trading for Meier reminds me of Botterill trading for 300 RHD. The Sabres are the #1 scoring team; a responsible d man is the bigger need imo. Gimme a d man

I also like that we set the market not have it set for us. There are some young centers who are due as well. I think its right in line with where he should be
- hubie

I disagree with the Sabres setting the market

Last summer, Tage and a bunch of other kids blues sens and probly couple other teams got basically the same contracts.

Cozens for the going rate for last summer essentially.

Nice Read Hank!! Definitely helps knowing. Sabres can jump in the game if they choose to.
- Buff36

Thx 4 reeeding.

They have cost certainty at two premium positions now. They should be open for business

Is Josh Norris better? That's the comp that could have caused problems.
- Lunaion

Norris is 2 years older

so there is that

3rd now. And if I had to guess they fall out of the top 5 by seasons end.

Scoring is still a need. If we knew for sure what JJ/Quinn will produce in 2-3 years from now I’d be more confident but it’s too early to tell and the team is good enough where you shouldn’t wait to find out

Even if they end up 5th or 7th, they're still 11th worst in GA

I like Meier the player, and I respect the point about offense, but I still want the shutdown d man

clock is started

no reason to not try to get one more piece for the middle 6

or maybe mix the bottom 9 up

I don't think they know what Quinn and JJ are yet. Banking on them as 2nd liners is premature, imo.

They don't have anyone they can reliably throw out there to shut it down when they have a lead with 2 mins left.

I'm good with the "all gas, no brakes" Donnie mentality. I just want that d man who can seal it up

if they want to let it play out this season, so be it

but if you have not signed johnson, portillo, levi over the spring/early summer

adams better get an upgrade over comrie
and he better get an upgrade over joker

and a legit 2nd line winger on a short term deal

Does the player above actually exist in the modern NHL?

Isn't shutting it down more of an overall team function then one defender, like what Tampa learned to do years ago?

All under control for atleast another 3yrs. Sabres can go make some noise if they choose to and the Cap should not be a hindrance.

Fair enough. We can agree to disagree.

He would be my target over Meier if I can only pick one.

I really think if you guys were able to nab him you'd be a force. Buffalo is one or two pieces away from being a true contender right now.
- BINGO!

Ehhhh.. not sure about that we still need defense and a top flight goalie to emerge could also you some secondary scoring (just because we are so young... this team is still a couple years away but look out in a couple more years. for the record I think JJ is going to be an outstanding player for us.. Quinn Im still not 100% sold on but he is so young.... The sabres are setup so well for the future not sure if I want to be trading young kids away.

The bold is the most important part, as they are uniquely positioned to not have to only pick just one.
