They said play him 3rd pair and we'd be able to have a play-divining D-man on every pair. Splitting minutes more equally.

On a good team I don't think he is a top pair D. I think the idea would be to give him 18 - 20 minutes a night. I don't know that he would even play on the PP - it would depend if he was better than the 4th forward on PP2 (Power doesn't come of that unit, of course).

I think the allure to him being here is that he would be that much more effective if he didn't have the weight on him. Also, by being on the third pair he could balance out the pairs so that the top pair doesn't have to play as much. If everyone's ice time is reasonable it is a big win across the board.

Problem with playing Chicken on the 3rd pair would be that he had a down year with Lyboosh in Arizona.

Either you move Lyboosh to another pair or have Chicken play with Dahl or Power.

I'd still rather get Meier.

It wouldn't surprise me if Adams' sack gets bigger every day as his cred goes up. I also wonder if he sees that autonomy that Beane carved out and realizes that he should try to do the same.
