Carters job their is to cover the front and not let McKinnon make any passes to the slot. It wouldn’t have mattered if it was Crosby, Mckinnions scoring that goal.

Yeah you should always just let a top 5 player in the world walk out from behind the net uncontested.

Edit: neither defensemen should have chased behind the net but once they did that guy became Carters guy and you have to recognize who it is and can’t let him walk uncontested.
