I just think ROR is a better C then Engvall.
In case of another knee to JT's head or if Matthew go down for some reason,
there is a backup C waiting other than Nylander - dmnted

Leafs don't have a 2nd or 4th this year so they would need to trade the equivalent of a 2nd which is Knies, drafted in the 2nd round in 2021, 4th can be in 2024 |

I think Adam Henrique would be a decent pick up, if they retained. 5.8 is too steep.
But 3-3.5, much better. he also has 1 more year.. and the leafs need players for next season.. Kerf, Engvall, Kampf, ZAR, Bunting all UFA

Knies is not a 2nd overall pick value.
Mid first.
Don't care where he was drafted, anyone with eyeballs can see and read that he should have been picked far far earlier.
Should OTT trade Tyler Boucher because he is worth a 10th overall 1st? Or is there a double standard? |

McCabe train, get on it.
Henrique would be cool.
You also wonder if there are any Gio UFA's out there that may sign for cheaper(nos saying 800k like Gio)
A Dubasy move is McCabe at 2-3M and Lafferty. |

There are a lot of rumours going around. And they all sound like a big haul will be needed to land a player that can shift the needle significantly.
Who would be your ideal target or targets and what would be a legitimate trade going out to make that happen?
How much do we need to upgrade the defense? If we get all Dmen healthy, and Brodie is playing with Reilly, I think our D looks pretty decent.
Reilly Brodie
Lilly Sandin
Gio Holl
Timmins and Benn as extras.
I think a stud LW/C that can play on the top 2 lines may be a better pickup. That would push Jarnkrok or Bunting down or give some flexibility should a solid 3C work out better.
It feels most would like to see some sandpaper with size. Any players that fit the bill that are a bit under the radar?
ROR is sure getting some attention and question marks remain.
Dubas' strategy of bringing in veterans that are hoping for a shot at their first cup hasn't panned out. I like the idea of bringing in veterans that HAVE won a cup instead. Someone to lead the way.
Is Knies in play for the right deal? He seems like a keeper. Can he step in after his season and contribute? Some think so.
I thought Robertson would have been a trade chip to consider, but his latest injury reduces his trade value significantly.
Neimela seems to be a keeper as well, so maybe Sandin is the chip that gets us an upgrade on D? But he's showing up and his value is increasing. That's why a smaller deal for a depth D kind of makes sense.
I'm not as opposed to dealing picks. Even 1st rounders. Despite lacking excitement at the draft, most picks don't end up working out as impact players. And even if they do, it'll be a few years down the road.
This year and next are crucial windows. And we'll have to get through Tampa and Boston to go deep.
What kind of magic can Dubas pull off to finally push this team over the top? |

But why? Smrt people can probably grab something useful from it I suppose, but most dinks pull a James Tanner and advocate playing Colton Orr 22 minutes a game because per 60 he scores more than Crosby. |

So Athletics latest prospect rankings has TB and Boston at the bottom, Leafs at 18th.
Boston has both 1sts but no 2nds in the next 2 drafts
TB has no 1sts and 1 2nd
Leafs have 2 1sts and 1 2nd
Leafs have the most capital in the Atlantic to make a move. |

because players dont all play the same mins per game, so you are comparing them with the same mins, i guess.
also its 5v5 mins ..most bottom players dont get PP time and good players do.
so you can remove some of the noise to see who is producing in those mins |

Well Matthews is facing tough comp and teams plan to shut him down.
Don't think too many teams circle Engvalls name before a game. |

THIS!
I would have been all in on ROR before he got hurt but now I'm not sure I want Dubas to take the risk - I still have PTSD from that trade as Foligino was supposed to be the toughness and savior and then being the flop he was. - Cush29
He’s a mid range upgrade at a time when the team needs to go all in. He wasn’t doing much before he got hurt and I don’t see the point rolling the dice and hoping that just getting here makes things better. I get the playoff pedigree from before and I get the defensive awareness (that we have with Kampf), but I just don’t see this as the kind of difference making move that is going to be needed to get past Boston. Go get the best guy available |
