Wish they wouldn't count empty net goals as even strength goals when the other team isn't on a power play, as the team in the lead is still playing shorthanded.
- kingcong39

They are treated as shorthanded goals. See box score for Cousins goal on NHL.com

They should be their own category. Calling them shorthanded kind of devalues real shorthanded goals.

I know on box scores they're called both, but if you just look up a player's stats they're only counted as shorthanded

They're treated as short handed goals when we're shorthanded. We were killing a PP at the time. There's no other way to count it than as a shorty.

That's because St. Louis was actually on the power play when they pulled their goalie.

When the other team pulls their goalie and they're not on the power play, they're counted as even strength goals.

Sabres are gonna have some big contracts coming up and we're a budget team.
It's time to trade some picks for a player with retained salary IMO.
Sabres can only alot so much $ to their defense

- Boss34

I'm interessted.

Using $90m as the ceiling, how would you allocate that between the 3 primary position groups of F, D, G?

Natural Stat Trick does break out empty net goals scored, both against an empty net and with an empty net, but they're also rolled into even strength goals scored.

Three players, including a promising RHD who will likely be available when the Sabres pick, even if the Sabres make the playoffs.

The point: The Sabres are still going to get a very promising player with their first round pick as this draft is loaded. This should be the last time we still care about their first round pick.

Promising defender: https://www.eliteprospect...r/529817/lukas-dragicevic

An American scoring machine: https://www.eliteprospect...yer/637625/gabe-perreault

Local kid from Hamburg, with good size and scoring: https://www.eliteprospect...ayer/685701/quentin-musty

Added a 4th, although I don't think he'll last to the middle of the first round. Would be quite a pick if he did: https://www.eliteprospect...er/603591/andrew-cristall

Nice!!, Yeah I would think that the late teens is about where the D might start showing up. Those 2nds could be important this year Defenseman wise.

With the quality of depth at forward in the first round, I'd go forward and then focus on defense with some of the 2nd round picks.

I just have a feeling that the Sabres are going to be out of energy tonight. It’s been a hell of a stretch.

If anything the consistency may work to their benefit as well. If you're in a rhythm, you just kind of flow. They've had games on the same day going on 3 weeks now.

No team has peak energy every single night, it's just not a thing. One thing they need to keep fighting through is emotional highs and lows. Their baseline needs to be higher on a consistent level. Playing games on a consistent schedule like this may offer the repetition they need to kind of 'practice' that.

Guys are tired, so thankfully this is a mostly young team. It's starting to show on Kyle.

True until playoffs then it changes to nobody fears a team that can't defend. When your top goalie has a save percentage of .897 tied with the great Dell it's not a good sign. Get a goalie now.

Playing in playoffs is the last thing that should be on the Sabres players minds.

You need to make the dance and way way too many games left.
