In all fairness, Bailey should retire. He’s done.

The strange thing is he should not even be this bad. He has strength and talent to be a quality top 6 player. Bailey's issue is a lack of effort and not lack of talent.

He is good for a really nice pass every once in a while and on the rare occasion a goal. Otherwise he is pretty much useless. 5 million against the cap and he brings nothing to the table. When KP comes back Fashing should stay and Bailey should be scratched. I’m curious to see how this plays out if they ever get fully healthy

He’s been in the league for 14 years now. You throw in all the playoff games…he’s too slow to make up for his deficiencies. He can still pass the puck, that’s about all I got. Hey, he’s had a great career, he’s done a ton of charity work, he’s been a good Islander, I wish him well in retirement.

Bailey seems to have a good shot when he uses it and the same with his passing when he actually focuses on where the pass is going. Bailey seems like a good person and stays out of trouble which the team loves. I just think Bailey could have done more in his career.

I think the big issue with Bailey is his avoiding contact at all costs. How many times have we seen him just let players skate right past him? I get being hit is not fun but Bailey plays the game like he is deathly afraid of getting hurt. We all joke about the chains, but Bailey plays the game like he is 140 lbs. I agree Bailey needs to be the one player that sits.

Well…he was a first round pick. And, considered a reach. I don’t know though, he’s not a hall-of-famer, but for all the Scissons’, Dal Colls, Reinharts, O’Marras, Nilssons, Dalgarnos, etc that we’ve drafted in the 1st round, he’s carved out a pretty damn good career. He’s never been THE guy, and that’s the problem a lot of fans have with him.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think Bailey had it in him to be a solid 2C. I think Bailey had good playmaking skills and a decent shot. A lot of the forward Garth drafted seem to have talent but they are very timid and they would rather pass the puck and let someone else shoot.

He’s a little more than a half point/per game player throughout his career. Actually, goes up in the playoffs to 50 pts in 71 games. He’s had a solid career. 9th overall in the draft kinda player? Um, no. But, like I pointed out, we’ve drafted our fair share of duds so, to me, Bailey has been one of our better 1st round picks in my time following the club (and I’m almost 46). Can’t count all the ones Milbury drafted, then immediately traded.

Whole point is, he’s done. He was what he was. A guy more comfortable passing the puck than shooting who can be an above average stick handler. He’s never been a tenacious defender and he doesn’t have a tough streak. He’ll back his teammates and provide a thrill every now and then, but he’s been a borderline top-6 player who couldn’t quite break those chains through to the upper echelon of forwards in the league, and barely even in this organization. Yes, the pun was intended.

I’ll remember him fondly, but if I’m a betting man, this is his last year in the league, and he’ll be working in the organization in some capacity next season.

Bailey did have a couple of nice years during the long playoff runs. Bailey was a non factor the two Tampa series though. It's been said many teams, the Islanders simply do not have enough shooters. That is why the PP has been lousy for years. This team was build with soft pass first forwards and it really has not changed. Islanders can only go so far with the current roster and things have to break very right to make the playoffs let along go on another long run.

I would take that bet. Bailey has a family to support. Unless the Islanders are going to pay him $5 million to fetch the coffee, I think he'd swallow his pride and play in Bridgeport before he gives up that kind of money. Also, while a buyout is a possibility, I believe it just stretches out the pain. It might make sense under certain circumstances, but, everything else being equal, I think the Islanders would rather be completely rid of his cap hit ASAP.

Has Beau gotten a shot on net since he scored in game 6 two years ago?

Don't make fun of AB, or even hint that this future hall of famer should be moved.

He was still a solid NHL player. That game is behind him now but he was definitely still a very good Islander.

And for all the whining when they traded back twice and skipped over Filatov and Colin Wilson....he was the fourth best player picked in the top 10 that year, behind Stamkos/Doughty/Pietrangelo at 1/2/4. Albeit way behind those three.

That was a pretty bad draft, looking back at it now.

Semyon Varlamov remains only goalie on ice for very optional, optional morning for #Isles . Again, the good news for today is that Adam Pelech is working with teammates rather than skating on his own.

Lol, I’ve said it before, I signed up to this site because of them trading back and drafting Bailey instead of Filatov. I was definitely wrong about that

Debating on who to bench between Bailey and Beauvillier is so this season. Take your pick there’s no wrong choice they both suck everyone

If there’s a way to bench them both do it. People love Beauvillier bouncing around out there doing nothing I’ll never understand it. He has had some serious defensive lapses recently and pretty much the entire season so let’s stop with the he’s a useful player mantra it’s not based in fact whatsoever. Guy has been an absolute abortion in a contract year.

Also, I was honestly super pissed when we didn’t pick Filatov
