Should have won that
- Upstate_isles

I thought the Isles played a good game and should have won. They had a big defensive lapse and Stars took advantage of it and scored.
Thought Ottenger had a good game as did sOrOkin.
Hate that a game like that has to be decided by a 3v3 OT and SO. Just so stupid!

Just the last 2 of seasons? Lou hasn’t done a right thing since he got here. Remember the first summer of shat signings
- nyisles7

The two long playoff runs are ancient history. It's 2023 now. I loved the 4 Cups but how do they help now? I have to think Lou is not happy with how last year went and how this year is going. Lou is not exactly young and the this team is not overall a young team, so there is a sense of urgency right now. If this were a rebuilding team it would be a different story. Lou and the Islanders can live off the two playoff runs forever or they can try to fix the problems with the current team.

I was not able to read the entire thing, but I got the idea.

Islanders co-owner Jon Ledecky affirmed the organization’s faith in president and general manager Lou Lamoriello on Tuesday night, reiterating the mantra, “In Lou we trust.”

Speaking after a celebration of the 1,000,000th fan to attend an Islanders game at UBS Arena, Ledecky was asked about Lamoriello’s status and said this:

“The owner who becomes a GM or the owner who thinks he’s a GM has a fool for a client. So we hand that over to Lou and let Lou do his job and that’s what he’s trying to do.”

Asked whether ownership’s trust in Lamoriello has wavered, Ledecky said, “We have it written on top of the owner’s club: ‘In Lou we trust.’ That’s what you do. You have to support your folks 1,000%. You cannot waver. There’s a plan in place, and he has to execute the plan.”

Is there any sort of bar set for Lamoriello in terms of team performance?

“The bar is that Lou is in the Hall of Fame; Lou won the GM of the Year twice,” Ledecky said. “I’m neither, and neither is Scott [Malkin]. So when you have somebody who’s got that track record, you let them do their job.”

Ledecky earlier met with Randy and Jennifer Belechto of Islip and their two young daughters Annaleigh and Ashlynn after they were identified as the 1,000,000th fan — technically Jennifer was the one — as they entered the building.

“I’m in a little bit of shock,” Jennifer said. “It’s our first time here. Big Islanders fans. The kids, too. So we’re excited. And then we walked into this.”

Said Randy of the Islanders’ new home, “It’s a little bit longer drive from Islip [compared to Nassau Coliseum], but it’s certainly more beautiful, so I love it.”

The Belechtos received an extensive prize package that included an upgrade to the Owner’s Suite Tuesday night, free beer at games for a year and 1,000 lottery tickets.

Notes & quotes: The Islanders activated Simon Holmstrom off the injured list and put him on the first line with Mathew Barzal and Anders Lee. Holmstrom had missed six games with a lower body injury. Barzal missed Friday’s loss in Calgary with a lower body issue.

They played a great game last night and probably could've/should've won in regulation. Normally I wouldn't care too much if they played well, lost, but picked up a point....but they really need to start getting two points more consistently otherwise they can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Beau was out to (frank)ing lunch on that goal that got called back. He's been a massive disappointment this year.

Next three weeks, including this one, are pretty much all tough games.

Thanks chief! It's going to be a real challenge for Ledecky and Malkin to bring back Lou if the Islanders miss the playoffs again Hall of Fame GM or not.

Islanders are beyond moral victories. If they were a rebuilding team you take last nights game and move on.

Moral victories are fine, if they're winning. Had they gone out west and taken 3 of 4, or something like that, I could live with playing well and getting only a point. But they really can't afford to be dropping very much.

They had the stat up on the broadcast last night (prior to the end of the game) that to reach 100pts, which it's likely going to take to make the postseason, the Isles need to go 27-14 the rest of the way. They'll have to win at a 2/1 ratio the rest of the season to have a realistic shot in this division.

No question you win 3 of 4 on the road you take the point last night. It's going to be real tough for the Islanders. Even before the Pelech injury, the team was struggling to find consistency.

Ledecky is just saying what he needs to publicly. If they miss the playoffs, they won't renew Lou. There aren't any excuses this season. No covid issues. To miss the playoffs 2 straight seasons after opening a new building has to be unacceptable to Ledecky and Malkin. The facts are the facts. Lou sat on his hands as young goal scorers were moved this offseason. Everyone and their grandmother has been saying the Isles need more scoring since Tavares was a young guy on this team, much less since Lou arrived 4 years ago. Results are the only thing that matters in pro sports. His resume won't save him if they miss the postseason again.

You really have to think so. Lou's resume and the two long playoff runs do not help in 2023 and the teams current problems.

When he's on, he's really good -- and he's definitely stepped it up in the playoffs. He has good tools...speed, tenacity, and awareness...and even when he's not scoring, he's rarely flat out terrible.

That said, if there's some team out there that has to have him and believes they can bring out the consistent 25 or so goal scorer in him that we've never seen, I'd definitely listen to their offer. If there's one thing the Islanders have a surplus of, it's 2nd/3rd line tweeners who are solid enough players but who can't seem to break out in the numbers department.

He's far from the biggest problem with the team, but he's not really making himself into the solution either. The tools are certainly there but he's yet to put them all together after teasing it for a few seasons. He's always been right on the cusp of being a real valuable player but he has yet to put it all together for a full season. And at 25 the length of the leash he's going to be given is going to start getting shorter and shorter.

I'm not itching to move him, but at this point I don't really consider him any sort of impact player in this lineup at all. If he were to be moved, it'd be for virtually nothing given his production and a deal that has another year at north of $4M in both cap hit and actual dollars.

Beau has had some nice moments and especially in the playoffs, but he has not found that consistency like many of the players on the team. The forward roster is beyond stale at this point.

Don't know if it was mentioned on here last night, but apparently one of the Sharks AGM's was at the game last night. Could mean Lou is looking at Meier (or Dallas is) or something else

This describes quite a few players on the team, imo. They don't fit neatly into the either/or fan arguments of "he sucks" vs "he's practically untouchable."

I mean, to be fair, most players in the NHL don't fit into either of the "he sucks" or "he's practically untouchable" categories. There's a large space between those two where probably 75% of the league fits into.

Palmieri looked like a regular participant in practice today. Don't imagine we'll get anything firm today but he at least looks like he's very, very close.

Really hope they don't take Fasching out to put Palmieri in. There are guys who are much more deserving of being benched than Hudson.

Really think Beau needs to sit upstairs and watch a game. You go into the 3rd up 2-1, it’s a completely different game, and just flat out laziness/unaware play cost this team an important goal. We may still lose, who knows, but he’s just a passenger lately and maybe it wakes him up a bit.

Not that I want him to sit, and obviously his pass on Lee’s goal was perfect last night, but Nelson can’t hit the broad side of a barn lately. He’s having a great season but as we all know, he’s streaky as hell, and his recent form has coincided with our recent form.

Plenty of fair criticisms of Beau out there, but Bailey needs to sit before anyone else. He's been AWFUL this year.

Lane Lambert says there's a lot of "foundation" with Aatu Raty for future NHL success based off his initial run in NHL. And that's because Raty already understands the defensive side of things. Coaches love working with that.

Yup, in the O zone, neutral zone and D zone. Beau made a dumb decision on that off sides for sure but he is far from the problem on the Islanders. Kid works every night and typically is one of the leaders of OIT every game. Don't think you'll see him scratched anytime soon imho.
