From
@FriedgeHNIC
on the Jeff Marek Show (with @Mattymar89) on Toews trade value:
“I think they’re looking at a 2nd or 3rd round pick. That’s what a couple teams have told me.”

Also say he believes Timo Meier & Bo Horvat go first to set the forward market.

I think Toews goes to the Avalanche.

Does anyone know for sure what Lou's situation is? If is contract is up in the summer, shouldnt he be resigned or let go before then? Should a lame duck GM be making the major decision of going for it or selling?

Probably not. Don't have the cap to extend him so he would purely be a crazy ass expensive rental.
- mdw7413

We don't have the players to move for him either

Reportedly his contract is up at year's end. I would imagine the plan is for Chris to assume control. They (Ledecky) made it pretty clear they don't intend to interfere and have full confidence in him

All due respect to Lou he made his own bed with a lot of what we have been subjected to this season and last. I highly doubt Ledecky isn’t acutely aware of that. Again, I’m not saying they will fire the guy but who knows. Ledecky saying that certainly doesn’t confirm that he won’t for me at least. I do agree that his son is most likely the next in line.

I think there's a rule against having two guys named Toews on the same team.

Yup, Lou gambled and lost. Instead of blowing up the team and starting over when he came in and Tavares left, he decided that, with a few tweaks, there was enough talent to go for it. I'm glad he did, as we had 2 exciting playoff years. However, that window seems to have closed as most everyone is older and a little less healthy. And you're right that Ledecky's vote of confidence by itself is no guarantee of anything. Maybe Chris takes over for Lou next year, but I think that will only happen if Lou wants to work less.

Solid 3rd rounder by Garth. You're very lucky if you draft a player in the 3rd round who quits hockey 5 years after you draft him

Forgot all about him. Then again, I tend to forget about guys who never even have a cup of coffee in the NHL.

I could be wrong, but Lou strikes me as a hard-worker. Then again, there's no way to know, because he always plays things so close to the vest.

That’s by design. He’s actually been in Hawaii for the last two years. He came back for the Romanov trade and hasn’t been back since.

Every now and then they show him looking down on the arena from up high, contemplating ....... his next move? Or that could just be a stock video that gets recycled once a month.
