Back in the mid-1990s, in the age of dial-up internet, I discovered a bigfoot research message board.

It had a very small membership - not like today where you get millions of people participating.

And it had heavy hitters - the guys they used to round up to interview for “serious” documentaries and new shows (like Grover Krantz).

Anyhoo, there was a real split between the cryptozoologists (bigfoot is an elusive hominid) and the new age mystics, ufologists and crazies, who had various theories involving aliens and extra dimensions. Debates got heated at times.
