I agree. They need a couple outstanding players, and the top of the draft is the best place to get them. - mohel
They need that and more, maybe a Bolland type and/or DeBrincat type or two in second or third round as well. |

What did we get for Janmark a couple year's ago? Domi falls into the category of "somebody has to play" and when you play you get stats. What would his stats look like on a good team? - rpeters01
They got a 2021 2nd (C. Dach) and 2022 3rd (S. Savoie). |

I figured there was a number, so the drop is after the 11th pick in your opinion, thanks Wiz - BetweenTheDots
So obviously winning Bedard is a huge building block and IF there was another in that top #11 you still only have four building blocks that are on track with Kochinski and Nazar plus two.
I simply do not see where the other pieces are coming from that are true game changers.
My point is even a Winnipeg Jets of the past talent grab in the drafts gets you to a level where you start to see there is movement towards hug improvement...and then they all want that second contract and you have to start subtracting pretty quickly if you are not in the win now mode...it happened to the Trouba / Laine Jets, so you almost are looking for the huge prospect injection to blend into a quick explosion past better, and that means more adds and sped up time table. |

Any chance Bedard is last year's Shane Wright and drops?

That's probably Michkov this year (for different reasons). |

I agree, it'd be nice if this staff can hit on more draft picks than miss in the top 100 picks most years, I think that's the key. Carolina, since the new owner came in seems to have hired a very good scouting staff and they seem to be layering talent throughout their system, and making some very nice trades. |

It is not that Fantilli cannot develop into an impact player, but Bedard's shot and entire game is special, far past all the great things Adam F can do and progress to be. Fantilli helps your team, sure.
It is a guy who walks onto the Hawks ice next season and no matter where they play him up front, he comes in with the biggest strength a prospect can have his stick and shot.
NJ Hughes had feet and good hands, this kid has a Mike Bossy type shot, and all the strengths to help right away with goals. |

Very difficult to outperform at the Draft.
50% of first round picks play 300 games.
25% of second round picks play 300 games.
8% of the players picked after the 2nd round play 300 games.
Even the Barry Frasers and David Contes revert to the mean.

Domi, if he plays smart and doesn’t take stupid penalties, is a very good asset for the third line of a good team. |

What I saw in last nights game was an extremely frustrated 88.
A lot of “ I’m open stick raises” for a pass that never came….
Heard a few eff bombs subsequently…. One time an “ eff me” following a non pass by Roos….
Hard to imagine he sticks around for this….
Exhale….

Luke Richardson said Jonathan Toews approached him and asked for a couple critical errors he made last night to be included in the team video session this morning. He wanted to take accountability, and also hoped the rest of the team could learn from it.

Richardson then asked Kane & Toews to make today's practice upbeat and fun, thinking the team could use a lighter mood. They did a "who's the best goal scorer in practice?" competition. |

Put him on a line with Kane right now and he would be leading the team in goal scoring by the end of December.
And unlike last draft, there are no 'Slovakian superstars' this year to beat him out of the #1 spot. |

Sure hope they had fun at practice today. At least more fun than watching them the past 20 games.
As for best goal scorers. Derek King scored about 260 NHL goals 5 on 5 so he might have won. He is 55 so he may have tied somebody.

I guess my memory isn't what it used to be. My bad. Thanks for correcting me, Wiz. Burke was one smart man to pull off that trade. |

Not sure all of us are emotionally ready for the next 3-20 years. Some that endured decades of suckage prior to 2009 seem to have forgotten that greatness is rare and should be thoroughly enjoyed while it is here. |

Have to imagine teams will be fighting over 88 before the trade dead line - BetweenTheDots
The bidding war is with Kane the player, wherever he decides, KD has to accept whatever crumbs said team decides to give the Hawks |

If Kane is public about going to one team and one team only, KD will need to accept whatever given or decide to lose him at season's end for nuthin'.
But if Kane tells the Hawks he'll accept a trade and gives approved destination(s) without talking publicly, a market may develop and the Hawks could get more. Similar to Giroux last year. |

At the end, everyone knew Giroux picked the Panthers over the Av’s. Do you think what Kane tells KD will be kept a secret? Superagent Brisson is going to do what is best for his client, and if it is beneficial for where Kane wants to go be made public, everyone will know. Brisson could care less what the Hawks return is, he gets paid on what Kane makes on his subsequent contract. Same with Toews.
Brisson is also S. Jones agent. Would be fun to see if Jones decides he doesn’t want to play for a bottom dweller for the majority of the term of his remaining contract. |
