All kinds of trades were made years ago by Vancouver's GM to get the Sedin brothers with the #1 and #2 picks. I believe the Hawks were involved in one. - boilermaker100
Forgot about that one but, kind of an outlier I think. Who knows what was discussed with the Sedins in order for them to go 1/2 to the same team.
I know in later rounds it's not an uncommon thing but these days with a hard salary cap, a good, young, inexpensive player is like gold for teams.
Who knows. Who thought KD would be able to pry 2-1sts for Hagel? |

We had the second pick in the draft and we got a lot of crap back from Vancouver. I believe Bryan McCabe was the highlight of that trade. |

From what I remember, they wanted to play together. VAN traded for CHI's #4, then some convoluted moves to trade for TB 1st OA, and then moved back to #2 or something. Burke found a way. |

Kris Letang is out indefinitely after suffering a stroke on Monday.
Letang is not experiencing any lasting effects of the stroke and will continue to undergo a series of tests over the next week. |

You got me curious. This occurred in 1999. The Nucks traded McCabe and their 2000 1st for the Hawks 99 1st.
In 2000 that gave the Hawks the #10 and #11 pick which Bob Pulford used to select Russian forwards Mikhail Yakubov (53 total NHL games) and Pavel Vorobiev (57 total NHL games).
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

People have strokes everywhere, all the time. Nothing special about Pennsylvania. |

I heard three people have had strokes in Illinois, two of them while watching the Hawks. |

While it's always a possibility has it even happened in the NHL? Remember the Bruins had 3-1st round picks smack in the middle in 2015 and couldn't move up. And then chose poorly with those picks. - Rota's Rooter
That's true, but at the same time we did move up into the 1st round last year, eating some salary? I think draft day will be more exciting than many of these Blackhawk games this year.

He had his first stroke at 26. He has a tiny hole in wall of his heart, which can sometimes lead to tiny blood clots going where they shouldn't. |

It is a vague recollection, but I thought they fixed that up around the time of stroke #1.
I remember all the posters saying Shaw should be forced to quit the game "for his own good" after one of his concussions. I wonder if we'll read the same people deciding the same on Letang's behalf?
I wish him well. |

Wow, Kings put Cal Peterson on waivers. I guess LA thinks no one will pick him up with his contract (and lack of success since signing that big contract). I would assume the Kings are looking for a goalie to back up Quick, they can't be relying on Phoenix Copley can they.
BTW after last nights debacle, King fan base is calling for Blake and McLellan to be fired, and Kopitar to be stripped of his captaincy. For today, that blog is more entertaining than this one, never thought I would say that (of course if the Hawks lose again 7-2 I might amend that statement) |

Ah yes, the days when we all argued about what was best in order for the team to win today, instead of 3-4 years from now. Good times. |

It was nice to see them get off to the good start, but in a rebuild with the unfortunate fortunate thumb injury to Seth Jones, they have fallen right where a rebuild team needs to be for now.
