Was hired a month before his first draft and picked Zadina which was a boo boo but he’s on the roster.

His first regular season there they finished dead last, slipped to 4 and drafted Raymond.

Next year finished bottom 6 and drafted Seider.

This past year finished bottom 8 again and drafted Kasper.

His aggressive moves came this offseason, year 4.

He did make the Mantha for Vrana deal which would have worked out for him if the guy didn’t have a drinking problem.

So if Adams makes a big deadline deal this year and follows up with finally spending some money this offseason he is following the “Yzerplan” to a tee

Adams has some huge blemishes on turning over his roster. Guys that are still here and guys that left for nothing (or close to nothing). Like I said, plans might have some similarity, buy KA's version has been sit on his hands and draft. Stevie is not nearly as passive.

Totally forgot about Simon Edvinsson last year.

Fact of the matter is, Yzerman the architect of the Lightning, showed up in Detroit and said we are going to burn it down to the studs and rebuild around a bevy of top 8 picks.

This is the first year he’s actively trying to win.

Yet I doubt Red Wings fans are chastising the guy the way we do to Adams.

And you know what, you better damn believe it was the right move too cause Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, and Kasper is a damn good group of U21 talent

Maybe because Yzerman had some sort of winning track record before getting a contract extension?

The chains or the kids aren’t progressing.

Quinn. JJ. Krebs all need to step there game up

- Sabretooth9

Sure, but you are talking players that are 20-21yrs old. I am talking players that are 23-24-27yrs old. Players that have been around and chain this team down.

Yeah and the last time I checked they won by drafting and developing there too.

Stamkos, Hedman, Kucherov, Point, Cirelli, Killorn, Palat, and Vasilesky all drafted by the Lightning. Tyler Johnson, Yanni Gourde, Johnathen Marchessault all undrafted and developed through their minor league system.

Their sole notable move was trading Drouin for Sergachev. I can’t think off the top of my head any big free agent signings they had.

They didn’t make the McDonagh/Miller trade until they were first in the conference. Coleman, Goodrow, Hagel deals long after they were Stanley Cup contenders.

The only problem with Quinn, Cozens, JJ is that it's their 2nd line and it's infinitely better than their 3rd, more experienced, line. A 3rd line should not be so difficult to build.

Agreed, and it shouldn't be as hard to fix as they have made it.

So Mitts Olofsson Bryson Joker, basically Girgensons Okposo Asplund aren't redundant. They all could be replaced right now. Funny didn't bring up anyone's age.
- Buff36

I'll give you Bryson. Joker is just playing a pair too high but there's a place for him. They like Girgs so too bad, and Okposo is 6 mil. Olofsson is a place holder for Kulich or whoever in Roch, and Asplund has value. They have a lot invested in Mitts, and I don't know his contract, but the clock is ticking on him by the end of the year I would imagine. Everyone wants something done now, but it isn't gonna happen

Just not sure what's all that different next summer. Mitts, VO, Joker, and Bryson all have another year left. Fitz and Asplund are RFA (maybe I should add Jost). How much change are we really going to see? Maybe they move on some/all of the UFA's. 1 meaningful trade? Is that asking too much?

I mean they have been linked to Chychrun on more than one occasion in the last 12 months.

Marek said it at the draft in Montreal, on his podcast, then again tonight on HNIC.

There was smoke awhile back when I said it but it wasn't as big of a deal because he was still hurt and aways from playing.

Who did they want? We can give them grit. Casey Fitzgerald +++. Grit is considered elite skill here on this message board

That would be interesting, maybe that's why Power has been switching sides a bit. And get Crouse thrown in to

Just wonder if it's smoke or KA lurking in hopes of getting him cheap. With 3 firsts, seems like that was the time, if it were ever going to happen.

Is grit considered at the same level on this board as Tage is a bad Center who only scores some points, and Quinn is a terrible skater?

As long as there is protection on that 1st, it would be ridiculous not to use it on the right player

Is he the right player? he wants out of Arizona why come here ? almost the same situation except for the arena. They are building from the net out and starting with the Defense now with the goaltending looking good for the future. You may see a Center brought in soon.
