The Wild's retros are nice. It's like watching the Northstars.

I think these analytics guys spend too much time locked up in a room throwing numbers around when they should be watching some hockey games. How much do the best GMs rely on this? I would say the older GMs like Lou just shrug this off.

If he is contributing to it, it isn't measured nor reported. He's playing with better players while his underlying metrics are virtually the same as Fitz and far below Zclague.

What better players, Vancouver is a hot mess. We have no RD depth, there is no one coming up the pipeline. Hell I would have taken a chance on Conor Timmons for the bag of pucks Toronto gave up.

Feels like having no one in the system is part of the reason they don't waive Fitz....not that it's a good excuse for actually playing him.

Bear on this team wouldn't have had a significant improvement over Fitz. That is the point.
.Fitz underlying metrics are about the same as Fitz's. Teammates matter, Bear plays with better mates typically and benefits from their scoring. Fitz played with generally non-scorers compared to Bear. Their styles are different to be sure, their impact isn't dramatically different.

Per NST, Fitz's most common teammate's are Pilut, Peterka, Cozens, Krebs and Olo...then split fairly evenly with Mitts, Quinn, Girgenson, Okposo, Asplund, Tuch Skinner (4 of Skinner's 6 EV goals came after Fitz was replaced in the lineup, so no big benefit for Fitz playing with him and Olo had 3 en goals of his 7 played at EV...those facts matter since Fitz wasn't on the ice to benefit the scoring metrics)
So, alot more shall we say non-scorers than guys banging home the EV goals (Tage, Tuch, Cozens and Olo).
Bear's most Common Teammates are OE-L, JT Miller, Horvat, Garland...then drops off fairly significantly.

Want to get better? Adams needs to find an upgrade to 2RhD for Powers partner, not focus on a 7th or 8th D. To me, that is a legitimate beef.
