Personally I think having smith learn from pk ruined his career
- shvingter88

That might be true. Too bad after such a stellar WHL career and rookie season. P.K certainly not being missed on the ice.

Took the words right out of my mouth lmao. Not even gonna respond because doubling down on one of the most ridiculous and laughable takes is certainly a play. Too much of that on this site, getting as bad as hfboards here.

Holtz and Bahl have been assigned to Utica
- vlongo4419

Good. No need to have them sitting in the pressbox for an entire season

I'd do the Marino trade 10 times out of 10, that being said Smith is only 22 and has 9 points in 15 games for a pretty meh Scranton team. I don't think anyone should be shocked if Smith turns out to be a decent mid pair dman for the Pens in the next year or two. Stunted development was a trademark of the Devils for a while.

I’m excited for this game and hope they pull this off. Then I want them to beat the I think it was 15g streak they had, winning the last 11g in 06 to make the playoffs on the final game and then sweep the Jagr/Straka/Nylander Rangers. Freaking Jagr had 54g and 123pts at 34yr old for them that year. Insane.
I know win streaks aren’t super important, but wins are wins, so might as well root for streaks. And beating milestone streaks gives us something extra to cheer for.

I think it'll be a team friendly 8 mil over 8 yrs.

Also, its crazy to think we still have Nemec and Hughes not on the team yet. The glory days are definitely on the horizon.

Hopefully, anything around the 7-8 range im totally fine with just to get it done and over with. I wouldnt go more than that though. We know the Devils offered him 6.5x8 last summer which is what he turned down and more details came out that essentially his camp wants him to be the highest paid player on the team because they feel he's the best player, meanwhile the Devils(rightfully imo) want him under Jack and Nico.

Also, i hope Eklund finally gets a rumor right for once. I would love Meier on this team by the deadline. He's by far my #1 'realistic' target for this team to add up front.

Meier would be wild. I don’t wana say “but”, but we’re already rolling. Where would he fit? Bratt, Meier, Palat, Tatar I suppose would be the top 6 wingers. Then you have Haula, Mercer, Shara, Zetterlund.. unless one of them goes the other way. Boqvist would be our extra F. I suppose Holtz and a young D would start the deal?

I forgot all about the cap. We currently have 2m in space. Bernier isn’t currently counting against it but his hit is over 4m. Meier is 6m and is an rfa. We’d have to send salary the other way, correct? Severson is 4m.. maybe we promote Nemec and pray Smith-Nemec holds up? Idk why SJ would want UFA Severson tho… unless perhaps he’s coming with Holtz and the Russian and a pick?? 2m Shara is an rfa.. but I’d rather not lose his scoring ability- but then again it’s not like he’s potting 30g. I know every soul loves Palat … but we could really use that 6m in cap.

Unfortunate. Absolutely dominated that period and nothing to show for it. I understand the first goal being disallowed, but its certainly debatable. The second called-off goal though, by rule thats 100% a goal.

It’s cool how refs can literally rewrite the rule book against us while going for a franchise win streak record, against the leafs of course.

This is the most frustrating game. We should be trying for the tying goal at minimum..

You heard him clarify the rule. Apparently it was the right call. Kinda dumb if the player isn’t even kicking it in the direction of the net but whatever. Should be tied; I’d not 3-2 right now.

What an effort by this team, holy poop. Absolutely deserved to win, completely poop on the Leafs the final 2 periods. Fought straight to the end, love to see it.

Would've prefered to lose a game where we didn't get jobbed by the refs.

Not necessarily. The second one 100% should've been a goal lol, and the first one was very debatable. Even though their skates clipped, Murray very clearly reset and was able to tend his goal and extend his leg and arm fully. But still, it should've been a tie game at a minimum.

As for the 2nd disallowed goal, per Rule 69 - Interference on the Goalkeeper. Situation: The goalkeeper is out of the crease, an attacking player makes incidental contact with the goalkeeper at the time a goal in scored, the result is the goal being allowed. The refs deemed the play incidental contact, therefore the goal should have stood.

Nah man. These were all reviewed by experts, multiple times at multiple angles. I get moaning about a missed penalty or botched offside. Those are split second calls made by refs, and can be easily screwed up. Not these. All three were unequivocally correct

Bro i literally just wrote out the rule as its stated in the rulebook. By rule, from what the refs called on the ice, the goal should have counted. Its black and white, theres no guessing. They flat out got it wrong.

If they deemed the play goaltender interference(which they didnt) then it should have resulted in penalty.
