If it were on regular TV I would watch. But I'm not going to try to search it out on sabres.com or put any effort into finding a stream somewhere. - MBFlyerfan

Looks like the 8 vets are JVR, Frost, TK, MacEwen, Roussel, York, Braun and Connauton. York played 30 games exactly.

Same here, why on Earth would anyone not want to watch the prospects play, its actually the only real reason to watch this team this season. - jd250
I don't watch for many reasons, but one of those reasons is that fans routinely overvalue their prospects. Since very few people watch prospects of other teams play, they don't judge relatively, only absolutely. Thus, they fail to account for the fact that other teams have promising prospects too, and however good ours look in isolation, they may not be what we need.
Further, almost everyone people hype tend to turn out to be pretty much in line with draft position expectations, so whatever info I get by watching personally seems like it would be inaccurate. |

ESPN+ just released Power Rankings grading where teams stand for the next 3 seasons. Roster, prospects, cap situation, and management were the main categories. Flyers come in at 31.
Why they're here: When it comes to success in Philadelphia ... well, there's always Joel Embiid. The Flyers were second-to-last in our Future Power Rankings: No. 30 in current roster, salary cap outlook and their ownership/management. Not even the arrival of John Tortorella could sway our voters. The only highlight was Philadelphia's prospect pool (No. 23), which has recently drafted forward Cutter Gauthier and defenseman Cam York in the mix. -- Wyshynski
Points of concern: Seven players are under contract for more than four years. A fact like that can be assessed in one of two ways. The first being it gives the Flyers the opportunity to have some sense of continuity in the event they are able to change their recent fortunes. The second being those continued struggles could make it more difficult to unload players and hit the reset button. -- Clark
Reason for hope: John Tortorella does not like to lose. He won't allow the floundering Flyers any pity parties. Tortorella is Philadelphia's best hope of being competitive and physical, and making the most of what they are. If Tortorella can show the Flyers their potential and hold faith in that, the future may not feel so bleak. -- Shilton |

Wouldn't watching it be a way to form your own observational opinions? - bmeltzer
Yes of course but the point is, there is a lot of data to suggest that "observational opinion"would not add much as far as the ability of individual prospects to help Flyers prospects goes
A lot of people like to watch youngsters in the same way they like to watch their kids. Doesn't matter how they turn out: there is joy to watch in and of itself.
My fanhood is not so pure. |

How about watching a game cause you're a fan of the team.

Good question, Bill. Apparently, the other team is invisible to PT21 during the game. I must confess, that's an interesting capability.

I think he said watching the occasional prospect game and only watching flyers prospects and can’t compare to other teams prospects.
He is correct. For the most part
Unless you watch a lot of prospect level hockey across the board you can’t really compare and thus fans tend to over rate their prospects. |

I don't understand this way of thinking. I really enjoy watching the prospects, I look forward to seeing them putting their skills on display. I luv going to phantoms game. - WhiskeyMan
It is more of a feeling of malaise towards the team in general - I used to count down the days to training camp and the regular season - this year I am like meh |

For me, there is too many years of evidence that Fletcher gets zero results from his effort to assemble a winning hockey team. Same for Clarke’s ability to abandon his mindset for building a team. Clarke has shown no evidence of being interested in modernizing his view on player evaluations.
I am a bring back the red line, prefer clutching and grabbing to slow the game down, lover of hockey fights. But that era of hockey is LONG gone.
If I’m gonna have to watch this watered down, soft version of Ice hockey, I’d at least like my team to realize how hockey is being played today and try and build a team to be successful in this era.
Fletcher, Clarke, Scott aren’t going to do that. Get rid of them. Until that’s done, it’s hard to care about the Flyers. |
