Kadri, Thompson..... Is this the "You can never have too many centers" strategy?

The guy is 24 and has not hit his prime and he is succeeding on a Sabres team !!! Just imagine what he might do on a team that can support him and play defense.
- Nfdbulldawg

All true.

That said, considering what other forwards have gone for this off season, you're offering too much.

Would love to have him though.

This lists him as a center. Maybe he does it all?

He’s played a variety of positions. I even think he played LW back when he was a Blue.

But yeah, he was predominantly a pivot last season.

What is funny is that the group is like another??? He is too old !!! his blade is facing the wrong way... There is truly no winning with your guys.

If you review the Sabres team both offers with help them. Its not a ones sided deal and you get a guy that is 24 !!! With his father having ties to the organization.

You basement GM's formulate a better proposal. Would love to hear it.

Here is an outside the box trade.

Islanders send Walhstrom, AB, Salo and a 1st

to Buffalo for Tage Thompson.

OR

Islanders send Varly, AB, Salo and a 1st

to Buffalo for Tage Thompson.

What do you think is a fair offer. I figured given his age and that he is a rfa next year, might have to pony up to pry him a way.

Listen, I get that this is a blog. We we say or suggest here is the grand scheme of things means absolutely nothing. I was just trying to generate an outside the box conversation. Not look at the obvious pieces.

Has nothing to do with the girls club or anything else. Everyone is has a right to his or her opinion. Does not mean the logical assessment is correct.

It appears that even our references have a difference of opinion. My initial intent was to find a wing not another center.

Just say whatever you want. You may get your balls busted for it. We all do and give it right back. At the end of the day we’re all a bunch of Islander fans that love the team and have our own individual opinions. Don’t take any of this seriously and start challenging anyone to fights, attacking other posters wives or family members you’ve never met, bragging about your hockey prowess, or challenging anyone to play against you in hockey tournaments or anything. If you do you’re a loser and taking this way too seriously

As he’s only had one good season (perhaps a legit breakout, perhaps not), AND his shooting percentage last year jumped something like 7%, I’d offer:

Anthony Beauvillier
Kieffer Bellows
Unprotected 2023 1st

Now I’d offer this for two reasons.

1) Thompson’s breakout year strikes me as legit. I don’t think he’ll be a career 15% shooter, but if he continues to put puck on net like last year, he’ll create a tonne of chaos.

2) He’s an RFA getting only paid 1.4 this year. That should give Lou enough wiggle room for Kadri as well. If he repeats last years performance, AND Kadri comes on board, that adds some pretty serious scoring ability to the roster.

Now, it’s also a huge ass gamble, and really only worthwhile if a person believes this team is capable of winning the Cup this year. And since it’s such a huge ass gamble, I’m not willing to throw more at Buffalo to get Thompson. Nor do I believe Buffalo takes such an offer.

I’ll take that pig and cut him into small, thin, rectangular, shaped, pieces, and fry him up. Then put him in between two slices of white bread. Follow it up with some lettuce and tomato and have my self a nice lunch.
