One is 24
And one is 28 and falls alot

I'd keep Asplund over Girgensons personally but I think this team only needs one of them. Pick one and trade the other

Yanks get a decent prospect for Gallo, thought they might have to pay someone to take him.

I won't say who I think should be traded. But you are right with them being redundant.

I think it might catch on.

Okposo is 63%, F.
Hayden is 100%, A+.

One did more with less ice time.

The other fell 4.3 times per game

Latvians who you like and aren't good enough for PP minutes. Might work for someone else eventually.

but I doubt it happens

Is it fair to say that asplund might have benefited from playing on scoring lines for good chunks of the season?

They're just so similar to me. Both are defensively oriented checking-line forwards who don't play a particularly physical game and neither have been all that effective at center.

Maybe Asplund has a bit more offense to offer with more ice time. I just want to see the Sabres diversify their forward portfolio and these two are too alike for my taste

I would keep Asplund over Girgs in a heartbeat. He is a cheaper, younger Girgs. And lets face it, girgs has been a flaming ball of poop the last bunch of years.

i am sick of keeping guys around because they are "good in the locker room" We need better, younger more talented players now, and Veteran SCORERS not plugs.

Kessel anyone?? 2 years 3-4 large per.....

Or those lines benefited from having Asplund on them.

That's my take on it. He gives the middle 6 something they are sorely lacking in.

Agree, he makes some nice plays in are zone, and turns the puck around for transition to offense very nicely. Plus he's a better forechecker than he gets credit for, might not be a big hitter but has a lively stick around the boards.

He meshes well with the likes of Olofsson and Tage. Something Girgs has never been able to do. (mesh with talented players)

Yeah, the team was 24th in scoring last year. This team doesn't need both of these guys long-term
