What does a trade between Ducks and Wild for Fiala look like ???

Wild interested more in player or prospect back or pick ?? or combo ???

I think you can say that the division used to be the best, but not really anymore. I'm not sure if you can even say it has the best top 3 (collectively). Obviously, you have the Avs, but the Blues and Wild (as they currently stand) are probably ranked about 8-12 in the league overall.

The bottom five are pretty weak:
AZ
CHI
WPG
NSH
DAL

I personally think that the division is going to be one of the least competitive for the next couple of years.

How about Steele or Jones, Boston's 1st and Josh Lopina

I think that is very doable. I would prefer trading Steel over Jones.

We are set in the middle for the future. Z / McTavish and Lundestrum..

Oettinger changes that narrative for Dallas singlehandedly.

As was previously stated, the playoff loss two years ago to Vegas seemed like a team that was ready to take the next step this season. In my opinion a better and more physical team that lost to the Blues seems to be more of a disappointment. The players seem to be there based on the results of the regular season. Could it be the coaching? Evason in one sense is similar to Boudreau where they have very good regular seasons however struggle with the adjustments needed in the playoffs.

Wild should be able to do better. Is Steele a checker or a scores? Neither so far. Jones is a year younger than Fiala and hasn’t shown much. Lopina’s ceiling is bottom six. This draft was hyped earlier as a stacked draft and now expectations have been lowered. That draft pick doesn’t move the needle. Wild have better trade partners.

The Wild need a cheap but talented roster player or a top prospect. Assuming Z, Jamie and Mason aren’t in the conversation, then Byfield would be the guy that could help the most but he’s most likely not in the conversation. Would the Wild be interested in Perrault? Hometown guys, LaCombe or Mikey? I don’t know. The Ducks have a bright future but I just don’t see a match here. Any suggestions?

Edit: Lol. Mikey plays for the other LA team

I mean.... every one of those teams except Arizona would have a decent chance at top 3 in the Pacific.

If Faber was draft eligible this year he'd be a mid-first round pick no doubt. In essence this is Fiala for two number 1 picks.

As for the Parise/Suter buyouts being a "mortgage" they were pretty limited. Parise did this to himself whining about ice time when he was clearly on the decline. The only other thing they could have done that actually made much more sense would have been trading Parise to perhaps a team like Arizona. Then they could have retained salary for the last 4 years and traded him to the Islanders.

Remember, Parise and Suter had massively front loaded contracts with the salaries the last 4 years being something like 3m, 2m, 1m, 1m but the cap hit was over 7m. I'm guessing with no actual money due the Coyotes would have loved keeping 5m of that cap hit and dealt him to New York.
