you take the bpa, regardless of the position he plays.
doing otherwise is a rookie mistake.

Wright is bpa, but after 2 years everyone is bored with that, so they've moved on to their euro toy

the guy missed a full year of development also...odds are there is more untapped potential with him also.

I'm going with the guy who has been projected 1st overall since he was 15, not the one who jumped in the conversation 2 months ago on some magic run at a world championship filled with mostly average players.

Also, the first guy is a center, which has been some sort of out of reach mythical beast for this franchise since the mid 90's

“It’s a peculiar draft year,” said one NHL team head scout. “Neither one of them
- TurdFergeson[Slafkovsky or Wright] are locks to be first-line players in the NHL. I’m not saying one or the other couldn’t become first liners, they’re both good prospects, but unlike a lot of years, this draft doesn’t have any great prospects. There are no slam dunks. There are things I like about both guys, but I have some reservations, too.”

the only opinion that matters is Hughes'. like you said, he won't be influenced by lists available on internet.
and like I previously said, you want the best player at 25, not at 15.
if it's Wright, cool. if it's Sly, also cool.

Completely agree. And I'll support his decision to draft whichever he thinks is better.

Even if Slaf is third on my list.

yeah, well I don't have a list. never saw these kids play really. to me the fact one is a center should not be a factor in the decision.
plenty of centers actually in this draft, maybe they can get one with another high pick acquired via a trade.(if they decide to go with Sly at #1)

Bobby Margarita also said he spoke with 9 scouts, 5 voted for Slaf, 4 for Wright to go 1st, he also said he believes if he asked 9 more, it would most likely be different results.
- Symba007

So... a bunch of nonsense thrown out as the definitive list.

LOL.

Let's just get this farce over and move on to free agency already, and then the dead hot summer of no hockey.

100% agree, and I trust that the habs are better suited to take such a decision than most folks babbling about it on the interwebz, but I have the feeling there's gonna be a lot of frustration from fans either way...

if Wright is picked: "they couldn't think outside the box, and missed out on the better player.."

if Slaf is picked: "they needed a center, and missed out by taking this huge risk..."
