If Sweeney gets to be in charge of a rebuild, you're more looking like an oilers style rebuild than Red wings.

Not even Mahewman can put positive spin on this. This organization in no wave shape or form could or should be taken seriously by any one. Even clowns can laugh at this.

maybe Neely is just guaranteeing him a parting gift when they fire him next year

Yeah not happy about it...once again, just as ticked off in the "how" even more so than the what. Tell the guy he's coming back, ask him what he wants to do about an assistant coach, then go to his house and fire him. I've got no respect for those actions.

This entire scenario is a microcosm of Sweeney's tenure as GM. He doesn't know what he is doing half the time, and then makes poor decisions more often than good ones.

He is a C- GM. He would never get another GM job with any other team if fired. Bruins can do better.

I'm sure you can bud. It's inspiring, honestly. I'm having a very difficult time trying to see the bright side here. Watching the final, the B's are so far behind both of those teams.

I wish they would just have a real plan. I'm down for a rebuild just tell me the deal and I'm in. But this half measure, scapegoating poopty game of cloak and dagger blows. I can't abide it. I'm out.

I feel the same way. He only has a job because he is connected here. Quite possible more incompetent than John Ferguson Jr or John Chayka.

It's sucky way to run an original 6 organization. You had 2 teams in this city go on stellar runs for the last 20 years and you continue to be the red-headed step child of the 4. Shameful.

Come on now...that's a bit of a stretch. A cup and two other finals appearances, President's trophy, post season all but two years...would hardly consider that a "red-headed stepchild".

1988 Oilers LOL
1990 Oilers LOL part duex
1991 Mario Lemieux
1996-2005 The Joe Thornton era
2010 Choked
2011 Won a cup
2013 Choked. 17 seconds
2014 Absolute (frank)ing embarrassment being eliminated by Montreal. Choked.
2019 Choked again

There is more to dive into but I'll keep it at 10,000 ft view. This organization is not great and never really has been. This fandom was "gifted" to me by Dad, can't let it go even if I wanted to. Believe me I've been trying. But be real here. They're not exactly a winning franchise. Kinda (frank)ing embarrassing actually when compared to the Pats, Celts and Sox. Est. 1924 and only 6 championships. Fan base is rabid and money isn't an issue here. Well at least we're not the Rangers.

Last time I checked, the Pats, Celts, and Sox didn't play hockey in the NHL. Making comparisons to entirely different sports and leagues is a bogus assessment of success.

Your comment was "last 20 years", so to put it in that context I can pretty much Guarantee at least 25 other NHL teams would love to have our record/performance over that time.

for the last 20 years they have been respectable, but they've been in a downward trend lately. Felt when they won the cup, with that young core, they should have been a dynasty. the future looks sketchy at best right now.

That's true. Just feels to me, in my lifetime, the front office and ownership has never had championship aspirations. They're happy with competing. Which when you have Bergeron, Marchand and Pastrnak that's not good enough. Not even close. This did similar albiet worse things to generation before that with wasting Bourque, Neely''s primes, and just the revolving door of guys who were shipped out for speaking up against Sinden like Oates and eventually Allison. Cup or bust should've been the agenda in both cases and it's very clear that it was not.

In 2011, I believe that it was the 100% the players and 0% percent the front office. Horton saved all their asses with his goal. In particular Chiarelli and Julien.

The ownership and front office continues to frustrate and underwhelm. They just don't get it.
