You ignore the obvious. How does one guy, changing with another, end up 50 feet on the other side of him, before McKinnon gets to within 5 feet of the bench?

Kadri had the puck long before your 5 foot theory. McKinnon was still on the ice when the puck went in the net...

Not even close...

- TrueGrit

What you ignore is the same thing probably happens 20 times a game including this one. The only difference is the guy scored. You either call it the first 19 times or you don’t. If the two guys defending did their job the goal is never scored.

This is what I saw too. Way too much butthurt over a nothingburger. Bolts lost fair and square to a better team. Hope the Avs end it next game.

Yawn. The last thing I want is a league where every single goal gets reviewed and a bunch of goals are randomly cancelled because this skate was an inch offside or this player changed 1.5 seconds early and our grace period is 1.0 seconds. Oh look, after 10 minutes of reviewing 14 different angles, the goal on the ice stands. Hip hip hooray. I get to cheer twice.

Nice dream Ek.

Hockey is a fast sport. Officials do their best to make judgement calls. Some calls go your way. Some don't. That's sport. Deal with it. Pretty sure if we rewind 82 games and another 20 playoff games, we'll find several Tampa Bay goals that also should have been disallowed. Maybe Tampa even loses a couple of points along the way, and instead of beating the Leafs in round 1, they lose to Carolina. Now what?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say anyone who wants every play reviewed has not played, coached, or officiated the game at a high level...

By that logic yes. You guys are like sports fan Vader. Do you really even want to win anything at this point or just burn it all down?

Whether or not it was 6 or 5 it really doesn't matter. The refs are controlling the series without knowing what they are doing. They let the boys play and then call something stupid just to show they are on the ice...but they are good at calling delay of games and icings(but even then they can't really decipher when a defenceman is skating uphill against the wind waiting the puck to cross the line

Does this mean Kadri hits Stamkos from behind next game, gets suspended and Tampa comes back to win the cup?

People are so stupid. You’re 100% correct. The problem is Kadri had possession of the puck while the guy he was changing with was still on the ice. Clearly “too many men” under the NHL rules. How many men Tampa had on the ice during their change is completely irrelevant. As you said, they didn’t have possession.
- LeftCoaster

So you enforce the rule for the avs but not for tampa? Huh?

Stupid Take.... You could take a picture of the ice 20 times in a game and say they have too many men on the ice..

Can we even say to many men anymore?

that type change happens 10-15 times a game and never called: player heading off and the replacement jumping over the boards before outgoing player is within 5 feet of the door...

tough way to lose and understandable that cooper is upset but that TMOI never gets called...

I would be more concerned with how god awful McDonagh has been playing than crying about something that’s definitely not a penalty.

I guess people want the guy going off the ice to be standing in line at the concession stand before the guy changing on jumps off the bench.

Tampa Bay fans and their coach, WAA, WAA, WAA!!
Go back and look at Tampa's goal against the Islanders when TB had 6 men on ice and the 6th was 45' - 50' from the TB bench.

Is it confirmed that Kadri was changing for Mackinnon? I've read he was playing the wing because of his injury.
- 13sundin13

If that was the case, then the Avalanche would have had 4 guys on the ice.

It was Kadri for Mckinnon

MacKinnon is literally standing at the bench trying to open the door as Kadri accepts the pass

That happens 50x a game with no call made. Calling that would be the equivalent of getting a speeding ticket for doing 56 in a 55

- eichiefs9

If that is where he accepted the pass, he was offside. Your pic is 2 seconds late. Does not matter. Do this math.

How does Kadri get all the way over to the other side before McKinnon gets near his bench? It is basic logic.

I mean, if anyone played the body on Kadri that play, we wouldn't even be talking about any of this. Bolts lead the entire game in hits and picked a really poopty time not to play the body.

Heisenberg...I am not whining or complaining.

Guys passing each other 40 to 50 feet from the bench does NOT happen.

If Kadri, jumped on the ice and waited for Mckinnon to arrive and received the puck there, where Mckinnon is, that would have been called immediately.

Kadri clearly left too soon. It created the advantage, regardless of what McKinnon was doing.

Ryan McDonagh seems to think last night's MAJOR CONTROVERSY was what those of us who watch hockey regularly call..... a line change. Must suck for Cooper to have his own players undermine his BS like this.

So many miss the point.

It was Kadri for McKinnon. There is video of Kadri jumping on the ice and 2. seconds before McKinnon gets near the bench.

Players at any level pass each other 5 feet from the bench. Not at center ice, regardless if anyone thinks it affects the play. It created an advantage.

These are just logical facts to the situation.

Tampa fans: "This non-call really calls into question the integrity of the win and will forever result in a asterisks should the Avs win the cup."

Also Tampa fans: "No, I don't feel having a roster that is 20m over the cap in the post season is an unfair advantage over the other teams."

Yes, forgive me for not posting the blurry screenshot instead where Kadri accepts the pass and MacKinnon is "basically" at the bench instead of "hanging over it trying to open the door"

The same play happens all the time in every game all season and playoffs long. The rule allows for referees to use their judgement in calling or not calling it as too many men.

I have to imagine you have the same level of disdain for wingers that cheat into the circle on literally every single faceoff as well. When that leads to a goal I'll be sure to see if your outrage level is at-or-around the same as it is for this one.
