I wouldn’t mind seeing Dumo, Petts, Kap, Zucker, Mcginn, Erod and depending on the cost Malkin all gone. So much vanilla in that group. - Grinder47
I truly hope they don't keep Kap even at league minimum. I just don't want him blocking other young players. I feel like if Kap is still here they'll be compelled to keep trying him in the top six.

What young players do you think he'd block? Legare and Poulin look like AHL fodder, Androvski needs some AHL time, and I wouldn't call guys like Nylander or Angello "young." Due to the cap, it's likely that a few vet forwards will be moving on which should open some holes for young players to fill.
I'm not saying they should resign him, simply that I don't think signing him would be blocking anyone. |

I'd like to see guys like DOC, Puustinen, Nylander, etc.. get shots at the lineup and him being there makes it harder. I'm not saying I'm convinced they're going to be anything, but I'd rather see what we have in them when we already know what we have in Kapanen.

Was having a friendly debate with some family and friends... what do you guys think was the worst letdown/loss of the Crosby era?
Among those mentioned:
-2008 Cup loss
-2012 1st Round loss versus Flyers
-2013 sweep by the Bruins (my choice)
-2018 2nd round loss versus Capitals
-2019 Sweep by Islanders
-2022 1st round loss by Rangers |

The Philly one hurt the most but the Boston one was the most disappointing. Philly sucked hardest because it was that Jagr team, it was Philly, and I really thought we were gonna win the whole way through until we didn’t. The Bruins one was the most disappointing because we were ridiculously hyped up after all those trades but you could kinda see the chinks from a mile away. Sid wasn’t 100%, bylsma poopty lineup decisions, morrow not 100%, Sutter neutering the third line regardless who was on it, having to start almost retired Vokun. I had a bad feeling going into Boston but it was a massive letdown |

2018 by far mostly because of the Brassard trade. I still feel if we kept Reaves and Cole this team would have won that series. I think we started to become less balanced as a team following that trade.

He was offsides...and the Pens' 3rd goal should have been blown dead for icing. |

And let's face it, both goalies should have been blown dead. Pretty sure 2 random corpses in the creases could have equaled those save %'s.

Take it for what it's worth, but Madden said his sources tell him the Pens aren't "close" with Letang and they're not even negotiating with Malkin.
Earlier reports had the Pens and Letang as being fairly close. |

That was obvious when they signed Rust last month. But Im sure Malkin wants to retire a Pen....only for hte right price.

Fits with the rumors earlier that the Pens wanted Malkin to see how the rest of the league valued him. |

I dont doubt this, I think both Malkin and Letang and the Penguins are waiting to see who blinks first. I think the both sides think the other one is bluffing that either player will actually leave/the team will let them leave.
As I warned about FSG - they have their numbers in mind. They arent going to bend over backwards to sign guys they have no loyalty to. I think that's a mistake, but that's how they roll. |

Well the last report I read on them said they want to make sure Sid retires a Penguin and they believe the key to that is keeping Malkin and Letang, so I guess we will see.

If Malkin and Letang walk, you might as well trade Sid and start the rebuild

I hope this is true, and if they believe anything besides this, I really worry about the direction of this organization. I know Mario is a minority owner now, but I wonder where he stands in all of this. |

Have you watched the finals? Even with Malkin and Letang they can’t compete with the Avs. They would need a new coach and completely different approach to hockey to compete with Tampa, or do what Tampas doing to keep the series alive. |
