If they are going to call too many men, they need to enforce it consistently. It used to be called mostly on player exchanges close to the bench. Now teams seem to try to keep the puck away from the bench area and send the guy going on the ice early while the player coming off is within a few feet of the door. Many times standing in front of it while the play continues up the ice. This happens countless times during a game. They either need to enforce it or keep letting it go. Based on what they've been calling, I don't think that goal was a penalty.

I agree with your opinion because I don’t think saying it was or wasn’t a penalty would be wrong.
There just needs to be more clarity to the rule. As with goaltender interference, honestly I do t think there has been a call that everyone can agree on. This is not because of who people are routing for imho. It’s because of the vagueness of some of these rules place to much objectivity on the refs. Honestly I think you mentioned having boxes by the benches which would make it impossible to cheat and put a definite clarity of when and where a player needs to be during changes.
Soccer does a great job having refs off the field constantly reviewing plays without interfering the game unless they think a call was missed. Maybe hockey should do this instead of the challenges.

Sources say Barry Trotz has decided NOT to immediately jump back into coaching. Trotz informed the Winnipeg Jets of his decision today and intends on continuing to focus on family. Trotz acknowledged how difficult the decision was to not accept the head coaching job in Winnipeg.

I’m sure Ledecky and Malkin were totally on board with paying trotz an extra 4 million dollars so they had lameriello fire him to intentionally lose that money for trotz’s sake

Still laughing? just curious? Maybe Ledecky and Malkin understood the decision b/c the guy's wife is sick and he just lost his mother.. maybe? nah.

Yeah I am

If you think the ownership team went along with just chucking trotz an extra 4 million for his sake you’re (frank)ing nuts.

It’s incredible how some on here avoid the easiest answer of all at all costs. Lameriello has fired coaches for much less throughout his entire career.

How does this prove that ownership “fired” trotz so they can give him another four million to be close with his family? Can’t wait to hear the logic on this one. Maybe, just maybe, lameriello didn’t want to lose lambert to the wings or some other team and he knew trotz wasn’t long in the tooth on top of he wasn’t happy with the teams performance under him this past season? Holy crap what a crazy thought right?

Edit; I’ll add that I’m sure it was somewhat amicable at the very least due to the circumstances but I highly doubt it’s THE reason. I will say it’s most likely what I bolded with a larger part to not losing lambert and most likely knowing trotz wasn’t coming back.

Considering how much value Trotz added to the franchise by getting the team so much national attention, increasing the fanbase made him a great investment.
So if COL wins it, we will be going from the Stamkos era to Makar and company era.

I’m not sure what the answer is to solve the subjectivity that officials have when calling a game. But until there is black and white and no grey areas, than you’ll have controversial plays, goals, and non calls similar to last night. I still don’t understand how anyone can argue that the Avs had too many men on the ice but the Bolts, with seven players, didn’t. Would there have been a penalty called on TB if they prevented a goal with seven players on the ice. Likely not. Fuk TB. I hope the Avs win tonight by five so we can get to the off-season.

Too many men is missed all of the time. With the speed of the game it’s not overly shocking to me. It’s the blatant infractions that are missed when the ref is staring right at it that boggles the mind to me.

I thought it was hysterical that Cooper of all people was whining about not getting the call.

Exactly. It’s a very subjective penalty. It’s an easy call right in front of the bench when a player touches the puck. But otherwise, it’s difficult to track for the on ice refs. I could care less who wins this series. I will say Toews wouldn’t be nearly as good as he looks this year and last if he weren’t paired with maker. That dude is Un(frank)ingreal. Ps, Fuk that kunt Cooper.

Makar is incredible but I think Toews is pretty damn good himself. I’m not overly moved either way with who wins but wouldn’t mind seeing him win a cup.

I honestly think what you said about a box in front of the bench makes sense. As crazy as it sounds it would be black and white and teams could not cheat and take advantage of changes. Really after just the calls in the last two years PO how could anyone argue with it?

My first question is injury? It sounds like a knee? What is his history? Nothing like getting a new toy and it is always broken. Lastly, his number appear to be a 5/6 guy not a top 4. Which would not be bad if Salo is projected to be in the top 4.

Good article about Dufour, who is playing in the Memorial Cup final tomorrow night. NHL Network aired one of the semi-final games last night so I'm assuming they will be airing the final

The Rangers would never trade a superstar to the Islanders and they definitely wouldn't ever trade one with 50% of his salary retained

Also he has a full NMC and didn't want to play here for more money when he was a free agent.
