I must be missing something, but I've never fully understood the appeal, at least as a top 10 pick.

Of the 4 USDP forwards projected to go in the first round, he's got the lowest even strength production. Did well on the PK though.

- Michael Ghofrani

Size, grit, and character. Something they are lacking overall now. Gauthier and McGroarty would add a lot.

I'm far from a draft expert, and even less this year without worlds. USDP stats have always bothered me. The gap in competition makes them laughable.

Acquiring Faber
Or putting them together

Because Faber is going to a good one

- Anderdog

Putting them together, Power loves to jump up we need a Dman that can and will cover for him.

According to another site
John bucargrass sp
Tweeted at a buffalo blogger
That Brock Faber will be Powers partner

Anybody read that ?
Hear anything ?

La 2 nd rounder

Think he's a better prospect than Johnson

- Anderdog

He played alot as Johnson's partner at the 2021 WJ20 games. He's a stud D man.
I think LA is stacked at RHD but weak at LhD...might make sense, but would be kinda surprised as well.

Faber loves to jump up in the play. He can recover very well too from what I saw.
Him and Johnson made a very good pair...Johnson more reliable, steady defender.

Stylistically, Faber is more like Power, so you point has merit IMO. Still, I do think he is going to be a good one.

Agreed on the team need, but if both of them end up ultimately putting up middle 6 production, that means you're trading 2 of Casey, Krebs, Peterka, Quinn, and Cozens for players that can truly output high end production, unless you believe all the current Sabres young players I mentioned will eventually be able to do that, as you can't win with a forward group that mostly produces middle six numbers.

Agreed.
Both in same position with respect go going back to college, not signing...same risk.

I would do it, and it does make sense for both teams if I'm correct with L's pipeline of RhD's

All those player mentioned have the ability to be near ppg players imo. If they will get there though is to be seen

you have the la connection with johnson's family though with the kings

family name gets burned a bit if playing dirty pool and this offsets any long term image of that

schenn 54 points
perron 46 points
bozak 38 points
schwartz 36 points
thomas 33 points
sundqvist 31 points
maroon 28 points

that's 3-9 scoring up front which fits middle 6 scoring to a tee

throw in ror with 77 and tarasenko with 68 for their top scorers up front

Send Fitz down.
Bryson is the 7th, he can play both sides.
Faber is in college 1 more year.
Go sign a 3LhD and 3 RhD on 1 year deals
Bring Faber up in '23-'24
Trade Joker in the '24
Profit.

Not sure where to go with this. I do agree that they are lacking top end talent after trading Jack and Sam, but does that really factor into making the best picks this year? If none of their high/mid 1st F's develop into much, then sure, they have an issue. They have to hit on a few to go anywhere.

I am not convinced the Sabres have a top line worthy of a SC contender.
So I'm more like 39 in regard to the current talent level unless 2 of these youngins absolutely explode.

Furthermore, next season is likely the last season for awhile to realistically draft top end talent.
It's a reason I would absolutely use 16 this year to take Miro. I would probably package 9, Olo and Fitz (Philly kind of guy) to move up into to 5 to grab Gauthier.
