Wow, A lot just happened today
We signed Blais 1 Yr 1.525
Montreal traded Weber's contract to Vegas for Dadonov, there's a chunk of cap relief for Vegas
And I think Torts signed in Phili - ELew11

The Weber move is crazy. You would think Montreal would want to hold onto that cap relief.
The Blais signing is really cool and what I was just mentioning to TJ (and hoping) he would sign for.
The Torts thing I believe I saw mentioned on a few boards today. |

Poehling from the Habs isn’t a bad option either. Nils and Gorton: a match made in MTL!
He has really good numbers in the AHL, hasn’t quite translated into the NHL yet. But all the Canadiens struggled this year. 23, 6’2 natural center. Still on ELC like Nils |

I was at the Habs game when Phoeling made his debut. He scored a hatty vs TML. Since he has scored 10 more in 2 years. Albeit not many games only 84 games since. |

I remember that game. Stepan did that didn’t he?
Since I really have nothing to gamble on lol to kill time, I’ve been looking for teams that matchup well at center for a trade. So far Mtl and Vegas look like partners. We have to trade one of these prospect D before they leave and get nothing.
And then I tell you guys and drive yas nuts🤷🏻♂️ |

I’d bet Nils and Jones are gone before camp. Nils I’d put at 95% and Jones at 75%. I don’t think Poeling is a good option. I’d want none of the centers from VGK. The Kings are the best match if we’re looking for a young center, who knows which other teams would be willing to trade their centers. Zib came out of no where and no would could have ever imagined he’d get traded. |

Why trade both and not keep one? Braun is gone next year. Once can potentially make the team. They can sign a veteran 7th defenseman. |

He’s just gotta find the right dance partner. Im not sure what LA would want for Turcotte? Feels like quite a bit. Othmann 😬😆 Kupari would be the way to go I think. Idk if they need D or what tho. I know they’re fairly deep in prospects |

I think my order of preference for centers is
Bergeron
Trocheck
Copp
One of Vegas centers- Roy/Stephenson/Karlsson
(They most definitely HAVE TO move one, if not two of them. They have Eichel and no money for the rest of the team)
Strome is like 123rd on my list - Slimtj100
I agree with you tj, on Trocheck as a possible affordable UFA if becoming one, should Copp &/or Strome depart; & mentioned him a few days ago on the "Rangers Eliminated From Playoffs" blog (pg. 16) as a better center option in reply to "Rangers9479" wanting Dach supposedly available from the Hawks.
Trocheck's stats are much better than Dach's, plus he's played in the East Conf. playoffs dating back to his Panthers days. Both averaged about 18:00 TOI/GM this past season with these stats:
Trocheck: 81 GAMES - (G-21), (A-30), (PTS-51), (GWG-3), (PPG-6), (PPA-6)
Dach: 70 GAMES PL. - (G-9), (A-17), (PTS-26), (GWG-0), (PPG-2), (PPA-4)
In needing to also improve defensively & have greater 5 on 5 puck possession to generate more offensive zone play & make life easier in net for Igor is the need for a producing center who can also win faceoffs.
Trocheck: RTG (+21), (Faceoffs: Won - 680, Lost - 565, FOW% - 54.6%)
Dach: +/- RTG (-18), (Faceoffs: Won - 179, Lost - 366, FOW% - 32.8%)
Dach did play, however, with a Hawks team that struggled all season in every category, but his +/-RTG & FOW% are enough to make him a "NO" for here.
Despite re-signing RFA Blais today, I felt Kakko was RFA priority 1; along with Copp, Motte, & Vatrano their 3 UFA's of priority. Those 3 would otherwise be the type of players they would again need to acquire by next season's deadline; but in having to depart with assets. So sign them now.
Copp for his team dedication, versatility to play CTR (which he prefers), or WING, and for proving he can produce in the East since his acquisition, (minus the Tampa series where they all struggled).
Motte for his overall defensive game play & PK contributions up front.
Vatrano for his great speed & shoot first style, including releasing his shot immediately without delay when in good position, in contrast to others. |

I don’t think either one of them play the physical game GG likes. Robertson should be ready next year to pair up with Schneider (they were partners down in Hartford) and has the size and physical edge GG likes. I’d sign B Smith as the 7th dman and ship Nemeth out of here or buy him out. |

With their cap restraints, they will be forced to either package Nemeth with a decent prospect in a trade to relieve themselves of all or most of his annual $2.5M cap hit through 2023/24; or simply buyout his remaining 2 years at a combined $4M savings over the next two. But they would next incur a $1M cap hit charge for each of the following two seasons thereafter (2024/25 & 2025/26). That's still not bad when in greater current need of the $4M combined savings the next two upcoming seasons.
Barring some major trade, just as the need for more youth at a lower cost up front, (among the likes of Kravtsov, Rhydahl, Othmann, or Cuylle); they will need the same for one on the back line like Robertson to make the pro roster next season. Those in addition to acquiring a low cost $1M to $1.5M annual cap hit range backup goalie to replace Georgiev, should 20 year old now Dylan Garand not be pro ready at his app'rx. $828K cap hit; nor age 21 Olaf Lindbom be ready at his $855K hit.
Any high cap cost acquisitions are otherwise virtually impossible for now. They in part signed Nemeth to have him aid Nil Lundkvist's break in, who was replaced early in by Schneider. Maybe a package of Nemeth & Lundkvist in an expanded trade can relieve them of Nemeth's full remaining 2 year cap hit. |

Now that Vegas has started to address their cap issues, maybe we can convince them to part with G Logan Thompson. He is on his ELC and would be a perfect back-up to Shesty. Perhaps Lundkvist would interest them in a trade... |

One possibility for a replacement backup to Shesty, despite his minimal NHL playing experience and being now in his mid 20's, could be Jets backup goalie Eric Comrie who is RFA eligible. Comrie this past season had a 2.58 GAA and a .920 Save% in 19 games played as Hellebuyck's backup. |

Why would Vegas trade him? They arent that strong in the goaltending department. |

Once again, why would the Jets want to trade their back up if he was good?? |

I definitely think buying out Nemeth is very possible, I know people hate buyouts but his contract just sucks
8 team NTC
and he's still owed 6 million in actual cash
who the hell wants to pay Nemeth 6 million dollars in cash

I would much rather part with a midgrade prospect or reasonably high pick to trade Nemeth's contract to one of the 23 teams we can deal with than have any more dead cap space at this point. We are close enough to elite that I think the cap space is way more important over the next few seasons than another kid to develop.

if they buy him out though, the cap hit is 1 million this coming season and actually Zero cap hit in 2023-24
