Somehow they'll have to scrape by with Kuemps and Frankie...

I wanted Artturi Lehkonen more than any other player this deadline. Unlike Giroux, he fits perfectly. Sakic gets an A+ for pulling him away from the Habs who didn't need to trade him. The guys who do the trade analysis for the Athletic seem to completely agree.

With Lehkonen still under team control and playing so strongly, it’s a bit puzzling that Montreal would trade him at all. He seemed like a player who could be part of the solution, but the Canadiens clearly felt that Colorado’s offer was enticing enough to warrant the move. I would’ve preferred Montreal getting a first-round pick back here as part of the deal. A second is decent and Justin Barron is a good prospect according to Pronman, so it’s not bad. It just doesn’t feel like the home run package that should’ve necessitated moving a player like Lehkonen.

Avalanche: A
Canadiens: B

Sorry but you bought Lehky on the high side…he hustles like crazy and we loved his efforts but goals go to die on his stick… thanks for the #2 prospect in the Habs org though

Jesus Relax. Lehkonen is a 3rd/4th liner that plays 110%. He’s a good defensive forward with small skills. He miss the net 10 times on 9 tries (just kidding) but I had a Love&Hate relation with him. His next contract would have hurt the Habs since they’re already loaded with bad contracts (Byron / Armia / Gallagher / Petry and Price).

The return is overpaid. Barron is exactly what the Habs needed in their farm system.

At the end, everyone’s happy! Specially me
