19 takes a lot of crap here, but he’s still their best center, a quality NHL player, and every GM in the league would like to have him on their roster.

I hope he resigns for a reasonable amount and retires a Blackhawk.

I don't mind overpaying him a little if he signs a short term 1-2 year contract. You don't want him to become the next Seabrook or what Jones will presumably become.

Same goes for Kane. Pay him his 10+ mil, but don't give him 6 years as you don't know when he's going to fall off a cliff.

Then this rebuild will take forever with that mind set.

It takes a bunch of different combinations of players on teams to be successful. If we can put Kubs in a position to succeed his value will go up.

- BetweenTheDots

For sure and Kubalik is not that. He's a one trick pony sniper and we need players who can carry the play to the other team. Generate time in the opponents zone.

Forget his goal, Lafferty had a good game. Not the highest IQ, average hands at best, but his speed makes a difference.

Their passing and flow looked better in person with the three injured guys back. They deserved the win last night.

Bouchard is a million miles away from being a legit NHL D man. Very shaky.

Evander Kane is a hell of a hockey player when he wants to be.

Here's a news flash - McDavid has foot speed like I've never seen. Quick and really fast. Amazing player.

Nurse grew out of the Bambi legs and is very smooth now. Hopefully Dach, Entwhistle, and most of their D prospects do the same. Just takes time.

They have to get a muzzle on the guy with the microphone during timeouts. Way loud and obnoxious. Feels and sounds minor league to me. Guy is brutal.

Another news flash - without the bad start and injuries it looked last night that they could have been a team nipping at a wild card spot. All in all I had fun there last night and it was nice to be back in the building.

Agree with most of this 66.

McDavid is unreal when you see him live, most impressive is how quickly he gets to full speed. That all being said, he really doesn't put much effort into defending, or dipping deep into the D zone. He is an incredible talent though.

Officiating last night was typical NHL brutal. There is so much interference allowed these days it is ridiculous.

The guy (Jon Hansen) during breaks is brutal. Screaming, yelling, fake enthusiasm, minor league bull-crap. The worst part about it is that he has been given more and more screen time since he started. Each game unfortunately he appears more and more. You wanna drop in the occasional game, player profile, or goofy stuff thats all fine. I don't need to see him trying to be funny or relevant or telling me to scream/chant/etc.

Keeping 27 year old overpaid players that aren't going to get any better will forestall the rebuild forever.
- LAHawk

So he played the equivalent of 2 seasons plus what 20 games. I didn't realize all player development was linear and i guess sophomore slumps don't exist.

I didn't say anything about a long term deal, 1 year contract don't get how that sets this franchise back, we lose a 5th round pick we might of traded for, pass

Nice to read, 66. Where did you sit?........ You just can't get the nuance that a hockey game provides unless you're there live not to mention all the senses get activated from the sights, sounds and emotions of an arena.

Yea man, McDavid is a freak for sure. Seeing him live really shows just how special the guy is. You simply can get near an understanding of his crazy skills and especially his speed and pure explosion he has in his feet unless you see him live. And he's smart with his speed using multiple gears which makes him even faster and harder to defend......... Saw him live, think it was his rookie season and Johnny killed him at the dot like 13-0. He may have had 1:00 of possession time, maybe. Johnny schooled the kid.

Think it was the 2nd period, did you notice McD entered the zone left side and McCabe stayed with him angling him to the outside top of the circle, McD hit another gear to beat him wide, McCabe turned and stayed with him forcing him around the net? .. McCabe can really skate.

I think Nurse is really really underrated. Kid has some nasty in him, big strong kid, very nicely balanced skater. Not that uncommon for him to have 5-6 blocks and 7 hits in a game. He's averaging .5 pts per, 3.3 shots per, 3.2 hits per, 1.8 blocks per, .8 PIM per and 26:15 TOI per. Helluva package. A beast really.

How did Strome look live? Were his feet active away from the puck?

Any changes of opinion seeing the Hawks live? S Jones, Hagel, Dach?

I know i know we need a bunch of Hossa clones out on the ice, problem is you can't find any, hell it took Hossa being on the Wings to become the complete player he finally became before he signed with the Blackhawks

In your case Sharp clones

Did not realize Dave “Charlie” Manson is an Asst. coach with Edmonton. He looked good.

Always wondered what he is currently doing.

One of my favorite Hawks of all time.

That home and home with St Louis in 1991 is when I went from casual Hawks fan to fanatical.

Believe his kid plays the same way.

Could use a few of him on this current roster.

Skilled and tough.

Exhale.

If they keep developing the way they should there are two guys that may be close facsimiles, Allan and Vlasic.

I've really liked Allan's game thus far. He needs to improve his passing and awareness a bit, but his skating is really good, and he plays with a bit of nasty. Big and strong.

Vlasic seemed to have just realized this year that he is big. He's got pretty good hands and can skate, but this year he apparently has added using his mass to rub guys of the puck and hit a bit more. He had been just using his reach/stick to stop plays, so this is a good development. Probably not as nasty, but still playing physical.

Thanks Theo. New updated info on our 3rd line center. The Hawks record with King when Toews is in the lineup is now, 16-11-2, all while still not 100%, food for thought.

As a season ticket holder I have seen McJesus live a bunch of times and he is impressive to watch, like you say his explosiveness is something you just can't appreciate until you see it live.

I think it has taken McCabe a bit longer to feel comfortable after coming back from a knee injury. He has looked better over the last few games. His issues a lot of the year are less about his skating and more about his positioning and passing. Maybe those are a result of him being uncomfortable with his skating.

S. Jones is....fine, he is a true #1D, but last nights Hammer & Keith tributes just reinforced that he will never be a great defensive defenseman like Hanner, or an all around player like Keith. For a guy of his size, strength, reach and skating ability he should win a heck of a lot more board battles, and win more one-on-ones than he does.

Hagel is relentless. He never gives up on a play. Each shift is constant motion. Question will be how long he can continue to play at that pace, and subsequently how effective can he be if he isn't.

I like that it seems like Dach is looking to shoot a bit more. When he is engaged I think he looks good. There are still some situations where he lays back a bit too much and is tentative.

Just a blast from the past I remember. Didn't they trade Meloche because he was unhappy with playing time?

Per Roumeliotis:

9. Kirby Dach logged ice time 19:08 of ice time in regulation. Only Patrick Kane had more among Blackhawks forwards (barely) at 19:33. Dach went up against McDavid’s line all night, a difficult task for a young player like him but he held his own.

Not that we are experts by any stretch, but does anyone have a handle on some specifics that Dach needs to improve?

Could be because of his wrist, but it took him too long to tee up a couple of shots last night that immediately got blocked. That and his decision making, which is improving the last month or so. Notice King had him to start the OT because McDavid was on the ice.

I haven’t looked at the line combos last night, but it looked like Dach drew the McDavid line much of the time. If so, that’s a heck of a responsibility King gave the kid.

Why waste the keystrokes? Kid’s a bust.

Missed the Blues game but he did two things in the two games I saw I’d like to see more of.

Against NJD he kept the puck instead of dishing and made two strong moves to the net with one of them resulting in a goal.

Last night he crunched someone pretty good behind the Oiler net.

They’ve got like 25+ games left in the season. Keep him with the same line mates and let him develop some chemistry. Suppose some of that depends if Hagel is still here but I liked Dach with him and McKenzie last night.

Good morning, we sat 100 level at zam end.
- McDavid having foot speed and a great stride is what makes him very quick and fast.

- I didn't get a good look at McCabe on McGregor due to being at the other end and I must have been late to look up at the video board. But Seth Jones had an eye on him when they were out there. Might be the best I've seen Jones play. I think the proper partner might be the key to Jones's success as a #1.

- Strome is mostly invisible. I was not watching him, but he does have a knack for playmaking where all of a sudden you notice. He did fall flat on his ass at one point, but he does demonstrate IQ on a regular basis. If Lafferty had Strome's IQ he'd be a star. He's a keeper but only with the right line mates. But I think it might be worth the effort if the coach can figure it out.

- Hagel is Hagel, busts his ass. Need that.

- Dach has flashes. As he gets more mature and stronger I think he'll impress more as he already has a clue. Will take time, but I think it will be worth it. He can't help it he was drafted so high and people's expectations are what they are. When he fills out he'll be a solid player. Someone yesterday mentioned he was back to square one after the wrist injury and I think that's accurate. And I said before a stint in Rockford probably would be a good thing for him.
