Comical. At least Sully never resorted to that. Lol.... Laff got his first of the season. |

Great to see Carter tied up for the next 2 years! I hope we can do the same with Heinen, Letang and Malkin. I’m not sure how we can fit in Rust AND Rodrigues. |

Hey look at that. A positive blog by RW regarding a mid-tier contract for an aging veteran. Savor this, Jeff Carter. This is not common.
Jokes aside, we haven't had a solid aging vet signing in a while. |

He does make a good point I have seen multiple writers make. There is no reason for Ron to sign Jeff unless they plan on keeping this core together and compete for a cup. |

Yep... When I saw they signed him, that's the first thing I thought of. They're going to try to keep this core together for a little while longer. Might need to reshuffle some parts however... Zuck, Rust, Erod and Kap. I'm thinking they probably move Kap in the offseason. Maybe Zuck too if they can. Should be able to keep Rust if you dump those guys. Hexy needs to have JR and Allvin on speed dial. Kind of funny (or not) that our two most expendable wings cost us 1st rounders and our best defensive prospect.
All you cap guys... If Zucker goes on LTIR until the playoffs, how much space does that give them? |

Just think about their base cap hits. Getting into the daily cap hit stuff is over complicated and rarely matters too much. |

Thanks! Seems like that core surgery takes months to rehab and recover. |

My first thought as well. I’m sure hexy has a good idea of what all players are wanting and that the main guys are staying. I see pretty much the same lineup next year plus another couple cheap replacements. Unfortunately we have no useful depth unless pustinen or nylander pan out so hopefully hexy can find another heinen floating around for cheap. |

CF has the pens with 4m in cap space. Zucker on LTIR until the playoffs paves the way for a MAF return. |

Yeah, and I can assure I thought you were. It was just a funny timed comment before a shellacking.

Well they do suck and actually play worse against the bad teams. |

Ive always hated when versions of the Pens have played up or down to the quality of competition. It was happening the season before last. |

No problem with the Carter signing.
Refresh my memory, didn't we just have a blog where a younger, cheaper player had better numbers? |

Tanger first. The rest get what’s leftover. If E rod gets a big head let him walk. |

I don't always buy into Yohe's stuff, but he doesn't believe Letang is a lock.

Alrighty gents, let's play the Letang Doomsday Scenario game. If Letang decides not to return, how do the Pens best replace him?
Klingberg is the easy answer, but this year's UFA crop of RHD's is as thin as can be, so chances are there will be a bidding war for him that the Pens can't afford. Just for context, Subban is the next best RHD after him and after that it's Colin Miller.
The Pens don't have assets to trade for a major RHD if he were to become available, so what then? |
