But what does this article have to do with anything? Do you think a local reporter is every going to write a hit piece on Giroux?? Whether Braun meant to or not, he clearly spilled the beans and told us what we already know, there is not accountability on this team, and that starts at the feet of Captain Comfortable himself! - jd250
Read what the players say about how he conducts himself on the ice. That is how Giroux leads. Do you realize how starting to use this rhetoric makes you look?

This year he just doesn't look like the same player to me, last night's gaff in the 1st is just the latest example. - jd250
That's pretty much the entire team.

There were a lot of people skeptical that Frost would be a good player at the draft. His pace of play has always been questioned. Don't make it sound like he should be the 2nd coming of crosby, but the team has let him down. Sometimes the team is at fault, yes. But i think this is you trying to protect Ronnies picks as usual. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle with Frost. - bradster
At the draft, yes. Then he had two monster OHL seasons, an excellent WJC, was an AHL all-star as a rookie and scored in his first two NHL games. Has had inconsistency issues but is improving his all-around game this season after essentially losing last year.
It's a question of consistency now. Not about ability. |

I didn't see this as Braun calling out G. Just making an observation that more accountability is needed in the room. Starts with the veterans, not just G. |

Someone mentioned things taking a turn when Simmer left. I'm sure we haven't filled his void in the locker room. - cdearth23
Wait until after Claude is traded and we start talking about how his void in the locker room hasn't been filled either, lol.

But he is getting an opportunity. Frost has played up and down the lineup, at center and wing, and he will continue to do so. However I think you all need to brace yourself for another miss by Hextall, because like with Patrick, I just don't see it with this kid.
As an example, consider the end of the game last night. Clock ticking down the final seconds, Flyers goalie pulled, the game is over and Marchand is skating hard chasing the puck for a chance at a last second empty net goal. And who chases Marchand down the ice and at the last second breaks up the chance for Marchand? Cam York! The rookie with less than 10 NHL games, chased one of the best scorers in hockey down and denied him a chance at an empty net goal. Its little plays like this that separate good players from potentially great players, which is why I think York will make it, and Frost will not. - jd250
good for York but not sure that is an example of why Frost wont make it. You said it yourself, he has played up and down the lineup. I assume we all know playing on the same line, getting to know your linemates is very important.
Frost has played 17 games, up and down the lineup, by all means he is cooked. Put the kid with skill and give him 20 games.

I personally believe that idea that the state of the team is about leadership or about Giroux's leadership is misplaced. This is about cohesiveness as a team and the overall talent level of the team.

I was one of the ones that think Simmer brought a lot of this. Jake and G just sulked since he left, but he was always positive with the other players. Another reason i liked Cam coming in. Jake was a negative presence IMO. Simmer was the glue when he was here. - Peter Richards
Simmer wasn't always positive, lol.
He literally threatened to kick people's asses on the bench after botched plays. He definitely had a few crossed wires in his head. Everybody still loved him tho.

Yea, exactly, York dove to stop a meaningless empty net goal with seconds left and the game decided and risked injury. Therefore, Frost isn't going to amount to anything. I personally think what York did was not exactly smart. I applaud the effort though.

And the (frank)... if you think Jake was a negative presence, you're out of your mind. He's an absolute (frank)ing beauty and competitor and everybody he played with will tell you so.

TOTALLY FALSE!! I never, ever said that about Farabee. All I said was I wanted to see more games, that is VERY DIFFERENT! So STOP flat-out lying about what I said!

It starts at the feet of the individual. A grown professional hockey player should not need the Captain to make sure they are fired up, he' not the nanny. Players need to take it upon themselves. This magical idea that Giroux is to blame for all of the team's issues is amazing. When he gets traded, who's next in line or the blame?

What York did there was demonstrate the correct compete level you need to be successful in the NHL, playing to the very end of the game no matter what the score. If more Flyers did this and came to the rink with this attitude, do you think they might be better than they are now?? I guarantee you Yeo and his staff noticed it. My point is, look how much more York asserts his presence and impacts the game already into his career versus Frost, and York has played with multiple defensive partners also. |

that is fn comical. Some are wired to play balls to the wall no matter what. I am sure he was really thinking hey I might get hurt just let him score.
