Haha. That’s a good one. Hartman another hexy blunder. Made me laugh.
On a positive note, we are going to get crushed tonight unless our goaltender plays out of their mind. In which case we’ll lose 3 2. I have every confidence we’ll reach 10 losses in a row again. That’s a franchise record. Two double digit losing streaks in a one year. - Hextall271

- THE BLACK HAND
Haha. I’m wired strangely. I can’t cheer for them to lose even though I should be used to it over the past decade.
If you want to depress yourself, think about how many times this team went to the final or semis from say 74 to 2011. By my count it was 16 but I could have missed some. Then look at the stretch from 2012 to now. Holy god what a stark contrast. |

Schenn is a good player but if he stayed, he would not have tipped the scale to being a contender or a yearly playoff team. On top of that, he had to be signed and i would want to pay him 7+ for however many years. He gelled wiith Schwartz and had a great year in St L but the following year when JS was hurt, his stats plummeted. Hes just a guy. Id much rather have Farabee and if Frost contributes, its a slamdunk win of a trade - THE BLACK HAND
It was a no brainer trade for the Flyers. That's not about disparaging Schenn as a player. He's a very good player but like you said. Wouldn't be a difference maker here.

Lots of great Flyers hockey during that 20 year period despite the fact that it didn't get Philly the ultimate prize. Even though they didn't get to the Finals in 2000 and 2004 they very easily could have won the Cup both of those years with a few breaks. |

Sometimes guys are a little quick in judging a trade or a draft pick. I agree 100 %, it’s pretty hard to judge that deal even today. If Frost develops, then it’s a huge win. The Blues got what they wanted as well. |

Congrats to Clode (Clarke draft pick) and Ghost ( Holmgren draft pick) on making the NHl all star team |

I think Frost being a star would make the trade a slam dunk, but tell me, would you trade Schenn for Farabee straight up? If so, it still was a good trade. |

Because Saint Ronnie has no idea on how to build a an NHL team. Trade schenn keep others. Made total sense.
Let me know when Joel or Frost has a better career then Schenn. Then you can say it was a no brainer.

Agreed. I think bee has a great upside. Fans from other teams really think he’s a special player, and I think we don’t value him as much. Imagine home on a very good team.
Also, I am not ready to call frost a bust. I still think he can be a solid 2 or 3c if he’s deployed correctly and supported. He’s not a 4th like depth grinder.

I think those two runs as well as 2010 could have ended with the cup. Just needed some

First of all, the trade was Schenn for 2 first round picks and Lehtera. Ultimately they picked Frost and Farabee with the picks but the trade was for the picks. Frost is an offensive player. They need to play him with quality offensive players.

Here is why. From a previous post.
This is what the HB amatuer GM's don't see that declare Frost will never be anything in the NHL after 39 games.
Even worse, here is what the Flyers continue to do with young players and why they completely suck at developing players. They put a player in the lineup and let him play for a little bit and then when they see a player struggle in an area of a game, they sit him down, show him video. Maybe scratch him or demote him in the lineup. Works really good! Instead of what they should be doing, which is instead of having tunnel vision on trying to win in what is obviously a lost season. Let's invest in a young player and put a skilled young player with some of the skilled players on the team. Last night in the game at 5 on 5, Frost played with Atkinson for 12 seconds. Played with JVR for 33 seconds. Farabee 31 seconds. Konecny 9 seconds. Giroux zero! So you have a player that is struggling in some areas and instead of giving him more support in a better situation to help him get going. They play him in a situation that is not conducive to his development. The Flyers do this constantly. They are bonehead idiots when it comes to developing young players. They are specialists at ruining young players. - MJL
Yay, we agree.
When I say MF is bottom six, I should have prefaced it by saying MGMT and poor coaching and the Flyer way of wrecking people,
G living with Briere was the best thing for his development, not anything this Flyers culture did for him.

am i the only one that wants us to get crushed? The worse we are the better pick we get, and the more management will realize how much a rebuild is needed. I think we can rebuild with HAyes and Couts still on this team, because i dont think they are going anywhere

For the record I wanted Ghost out of here along with Voracek! I was just bringing up the stats cause it seems when guys leave this team their game recovers(not Voracek...he is who we knew he was). It's almost as if there is a dark shroud hanging over this organization. Yandle shouldn't be on the ice these days though. I don't give a rat's arse about his iron man streak. It's almost as if Hayes reached out to him and invited him to the Philly Country Club. - Phillywhiteout

What do you mean? Schenn signed with the blues to 6.5 million and he plays behind Ryan O’Riley. He’s likely would have played behind Couturier here. Schenn could have been in the same situation here. Great on the PP. physical. Plays all three forward positions. |

I wanted Jake gone more than anyone. He doesnt do what any coaches ask. Watching his interviews he almost laughs at the fact that he doesnt back check. said he is paid for offense, that isnt a guy you want in the locker room around younger guys. I always liked Ghost. He has a skill set that is rare, i think the coaches just didnt let him be him, he wasnt a fit with our coaches.

Good point, although Farabee in my opinion needs to do more than score. I question his smarts and work ethic at times. |

Bee is out there on the PK, he out there on the PP, good 5 on 5 point producer. I don't think he will ever be a super star, but Bee is a really solid player that can help you in a lot of ways. He reminds me a lot of Bill Barber. |

Ask yourself this question, are those 2 as your 1/2 punch good enough to be contender? Whenever that day comes. I don't see it.
