Again, that seems like A LOT for a rental to me but maybe i'm just being biased as a fan and have unreasonable expectations

A guy who might never play for us, an undersized defender (and no we aren't starting that debate again), and a mid round pick probably isn't that high for a guy who has been productive.

We don't even know if Kravs would play for them.

Not a stretch run rental, since Miller is signed for next year. But giving up Jones will hurt
- airjan23

Ah, forgot he is signed one more year. That gives us a great core to run with this year but then Strome 100% falls off next year (which might happen anyway)

I think you can move Nemeth- Tinrodi and Georgie drop off and kakko can be given a bridge and everyone can fit I think- or just pull a Tampa move

Nemeth/Tinordi give us $3.5m extra to play with. Georgi is already not factored into our cap situation next year. You can take that $3.5m down to $2.5m if you sign a backup to a minimum contract. That still doesn't work because we'd have like $9m to sign Strome, Kakko, Blais, Gauthier. Who the hell knows, maybe something crazy will happen. If it's between one more year of Miller or Strome for a new contract I am partial to Strome even if he's a bit of a financial burden down the line due to the undeniable chemistry he has with Panarin.

How about this crazy (frank)ing idea:
We stop trying to trade all our players and just keep winning!!!!!
WTF is wrong with all you guys??? We are a 97% complete team. How many 100% complete teams are there in this league? One? Maybe?
The grass is always greener...

I unbelievably agree with you whole heartily!!!

This team is 21 games old with 4 new players a new coach and a new system. Can we at least wait till the 25 game mark before we trade anyone?? Or until some players turn 21?? 14-4-3 I know sucks but come on.

Yes we think we need a second line center but Strome and Panarin play well together. Maybe Panarin like Strome as his Center. Yes I know some on this board believe we can trade for Mcdavid but lets see what happens in the next 20 games.

you dont have to change the constitution of the team but we clearly need more depth and we have 9M this year to add it

Sweeten the deal a bit to have VAN retain 50% of a not very large contract for one more season and now we're cookin

additional depth is not a problem- There will be injuries so you wont have to think about who falls out of the line up, rotate until that occurs

Vancouver is about to enter a rebuild- I doubt they would want a roster player. if they do then there isnt a deal to be had

- Greschnergy#4

Seattle is built to trade a lot of their roster at the deadline. Find some depth and a face-off specialist there. They have almost no depth right now because they share a farm team with the Panthers (I think), so they'll be looking for NHL-ready young players for next season and picks/prospects for down the road.

There’s an old saying that applies here I believe.

“You’re never as good as when things are going well, and never as bad when they are not”.

This is no time for Drury to sit back and wait. His biggest issue is, not to mess up the chemistry the team seems to have built.

If making a deal nets the club a player a la JT Miller, without moving anyone off the active roster, it needs to be seriously considered. He address a weakness that eventually will come back to haunt them in the face off dot.

Also, you can never have too much depth, unfortunately, somewhere along the line someone will get hurt.

Don’t love the idea personally, but didn’t realize Eric Staal is still unsigned. Did he officially retire?

Rather than trading away prospects, wonder if he could be a cheap option given what Drury has described the team needing. Would be an interesting look at 3C and give the team lots of options to improve elsewhere. Do agree that no one is currently deserving of sitting though.

Edit: LeBrun says 3-4 teams are interested…Gulp.

I'd be curious what kind of game shape Eric is in. He seemed kind of washed last season

I’d have to agree. But do think in a low pressure role, he could bring an interesting element to the team. Always been solid at draws too. No risk either.

But, is there any realistic chance that Vancouver would trade a prominent member of their team without getting a roster player in return? I don't think so.
