Stupid thought experiment but would we have a better record if we replaced Shesty with an average goalie or Fox with an average defenseman?

Not to point out the obvious but if your head gets knocked off, there is a good chance you don't exist anymore.

This was my kind of argument in the summer. We can't say we are in the rebuild phase when you have a norris level defender, a hart candidate, and a Vezina level goalie on the roster. No one can claim the high end talent is not here.

I think this year has shown, we should view last year in a different light. We managed to be in the playoff hunt in a tough division despite playing with our third string goaltender for a huge part of the season and having out top player dealing with bizarre personal issues.

This is a really good team, and I'm glad to see the results showing on the ice

If you lost your balls would you produce more testosterone?

it can't be underestimated how much better it is playing in front of fans too

I think lafreniere's played in front of fans at MSG, what 10 times at this point?

Laf needs to see a hypnotherapist so that every time someone says the word "pumpernickel" he thinks he's playing in the Bell Centre

I still want the Rangers to upgrade the top 6 RW at some point, would be dumb to waste 9 million in cap space they have for this season when they look like a contender. But Hunt has made it less of a rush right now. Can wait till the trade deadline more and see who else becomes available.

Once Nashville is out of it we could go out and get Forsberg

If they get a bonafide center and that pushed Strome or Chytil to the wing, that could work

Didn't they move Bread over last night? That could be the soluton right there. I loved how CK-Zib-Kakko played last night. Seems like they left Laf with Chytil though I could see them trying Laf on 2LW

I wouldn't touch that Laf-Chytill-Gauthier line right now. They have been building some chemistry the last few games and playing well. Hunt getting kicked out messed that up last night.

I really think we should go after MAF to utilize that cap space. God forbid Shesty ever goes down we’re effed. MAF can handle any playoff duties that may arise and could resign real cheap next year

Send them Georgy and a middle rd draft pick. Even then we’d still have enough room for a forward. Hunt, and the emergence of Gauthier, have definitely taken away any urgency to add a winger tho. I’m sure MAF would approve a contending team, which we now are. We got the Vegas connections too (Gallant/Reaves). His pretty buddy buddy with Reaves I believe

Edit: We’d be adding like 4.5 mill in that deal. Georgy has to be included obviously

Please explain to me how Strome is not a bonafide 2C?

41% on faceoffs is why. That’s his only bugaboo, but it’s a big one.

41% is realllllllly bad for a vet like he is

winning faceoffs is the most over rated part of being a 2C-- he doesnt have to take important draws. he is not a perfect player but more than makes up for that deficiency in many other way including leadership.

sometimes you dont know what you got til its gone
