And how would they find out he didn't waive? - MBFlyerfan

At this point I would question why Giroux wouldn't want to waive. Loyalty is one thing but he deserves better. - MJL
I’m sure he will but the trade deadline is still a bit away. This team will continue to flounder and the conversation will be had. |

I guess in your world physics don't exist. One can only reach so far and only go so fast. Unless you get irradiated in space with your three team members and get some sort of "fantastic" mutations. - MBFlyerfan
Like i said i didnt see the play, just commenting from the pic. Looks like a routine play to me, maybe let or go off the boards if it was out of reach. I find it fascinating with how awful they played, thats the one play everyone wants to argue about.

Honestly no. Dump and chase works fine if your forwards can beat the defenders to the pucks but right now the Flyers forwards are too slow to do that. When the same forwards try to carry it in, they lack cohesion as unit and thus turn the puck over rather easily. Its on the players IMO, not the coaches. Depending on the opponent, some games you might carry the puck in more because maybe the defenseman tend to back off their blue line or maybe the gaps between the Dmen and forwards on that team are poor and you can take advantage of it. Other games you might dump and chase more because the opponent's Dmen stand you up at the blue line and make it harder for you to carry the puck in, or maybe their Dmen are not that strong on the puck and so you feel you can win those puck battles below the goal line and gain possession.
So there is no such system as dump and chase, or carry it over the line. It all depends on how your opponent defends and thus how best you can take advantage of their weaknesses. For example, against the Flyers teams still believe the best way to attack them is dump and chase because without Ellis teams feel the Flyers' D are slow and not good at puck battles below the line. This was the Bruin's strategy against them last Saturday in fact, and I know because their analyst were talking about it on their broadcast. - jd250
then yes it is on AV to not recognize this and get away from this "system" that cleary does not work.

This was my point the other day...why wouldn't he want to leave if he had the option of going to a contender?
Maybe it's his competitive juices; he's not a quitter and wants to finish what he started. He truly wants to win it here, not some other city with no connection, ala Ray Borque.
But I would not blame him one bit if he did. He's paid his dues.

Giroux being traded and winning a cup would be the perfect bow on this season and this franchise. - ClaudeFather
CC is not part of the solution going forward. He has to see this and if he doesn't then he is a dope.

i think the coach is now at a loss for what to do. the last couple of games when they show him is drastically different from his first year. no intensity in his eyes.....more like just waiting o get put down.

I seriously doubt that. Most fans, like me, would see that as a classless act by the organization. - MBFlyerfan
it is a business. Needs to be treated as such. They paid him very well.

what is there to question? He has it easy here in Philly.

Both players could have done better. But the pass is what initiated the entire sequence. Even if Provy had corralled the pass, the Devils forechecker would have been on him IMMEDIATELY.
It's neither here nor there, tho. They didn't deserve to win that game. |

The Flyers paid G well, he i turn is among the top 10 players in their history. He's higher if they had won in '10. This team is going in the wrong direction, and if it's not corrected soon it'll be another season without a sniff. This is the time to pay his loyalty back by giving him a chance. It'll hurt, and probably send us spiraling down faster but this team needs a new direction. |

I hope Hexy brings him to Pittsburgh and he scores the Cup-winning goal on a feed from Sid just so all the heads on Flyersbuzz will explode.

There’s ton of miscues in games that don’t need to end up in the back of the net. When you compound a minor miscue with a major one, that is a problem |

Haha to be honest this team has made me numb to hockey. I turned the game off last night and couldn’t care less. Pathetic organization |

anyone with over 3 full years on this team I move out. Need a whole new lineup. Many have ben around this poison far too long. Start from scratch. Cant be as boring and vanilla as this team. |

Canucks and Flyers would make interesting trade partners. A number of similarly-priced/aged/talented players to swap. |

I agree to an extent, but how are you replacing all 3? I think the only reason they haven't done anything is because they are having a hard time finding A coach. |

Well, not from me anyway. Anyone on here last night knows I blasted Risto for some pretty bad plays, as I did in the last game against the Canes. I just can't stand this constant blaming of one player when the entire team sucks right now. - jd250
Enough about the damn pass, from me anyway.
Re Risto: every single analytic I used against him in Buffalo is going for him today. I was wrong about him so far.
The more interesting story is: will it last? And I was wagering with Landros2 the other day that it won't. Because in most cases, a players relative #s actually do not change so much when moving from a bad team to a good one or the reverse.
Look at ROR and Mantha. Move from wrecks to contenders. Both improved the possessions #s of team in the wrecks, continued to do that in the contenders.
Look at Savard moving from poopty CBJ to Tampa. Possession drag in CBJ, same in Tampa. A few years earlier, look at Weber moving from the elite D of Nashville to the then fairly poopty D of Habs. Possession drag in Nashville, ditto in Habs.
So, my theory is this (to paraphrase Gloria Swanson): it's not Risto who got big. Its the team that got small. Once the team recovers from its poor play, which is probably when Ellis returns, you will see the innate tendencies of Risto reappear, and the law of averages start to assert itself.
