So no one is qualified unless they played pro hockey?? That’s insane and is a big part of what is wrong with the nhl.
- TurdFergeson

There's plenty of non athletes in pro hockey management positions so no.

Not unless he played pro hockey, Briere used his IQ in hockey and I have a feeling he'd do the same in management.
- J-P

kinda feel Briere would be a better option than Darche too...

I have a friend who is a dentist in the US. The amount he makes is (frank)ing silly. I'm shocked any medical professional would stay in Canada after being told the earning differences

I'm curious to know the difference in price between liability insurance in the states and Canada. I'm willing to bet it's not as appealing as you make it sound.

Brière would not be my top pick, but I have to admit that the experience he gained the past few years play in his favor.

I'd imagine he pays substantially more than he would here. I'd also imagine he charges substantially more than he would here

I think you can remove his name from the list. No way he works with Gorton.

Also, I don't get why his name is always brought up as a potential hire. I mean, I get the nostalgia and I loved Patrick Roy the goaltender...but in his short tenure in management in the NHL, he mainly made a spectacle of himself, and after that when people disagreed with him, he just took his ball and went home

Patrick would be great if he was owner, president, vp of operations, GM, AGM, Coach and assistant coach all at once.

I agree, I don't think he'd play nice in the sand box.

Yeah managing an ECHL team vs assistant GM of an NHL team is basically the same except the big egos right? I feel like Brière is 3-5 years away from being a legit candidate to a GM seat in the NHL. I want Madden Jr and Darche tbh. Darche has all the tools and Madden is a draft specialist, kinda what this team has been missing for a while now...
