Gorton should hire Patrice Bergeron as GM. Hab fans wouldn’t know what to do. Two former Bruins running Les Glorioux

Mike Richards had his contract voided completely for what seems like less of an infraction than the 20-30 or so that Kane has had. Forging official Government documents? Gambling? Bankruptcy? Domestic issues?

It's almost like the Code of Conduct has him on the cover with a circle and a line through through it.

- Monkeypunk

The only infraction that the league can say boo about is the forging of government documents, and they already dropped the hammer on him.

The others are not great from a PR perspective, but nothing you can void a contract over.

I'm pretty happy about Gorton running the show though.

Seems like a decent fella.

Madden Jr as GM would be another step I'd be 100% behind.

Just not sure he speaks french.

If they determined that he did forge the government document - that he broke the law in order to circumvent league rules - 21 games is way too light.

No you werent.
You've predicted their demise for 4 years. Been wrong every year.
This year, they were on the road for 13 straight games, have had 6 -7 players missing due to covid and are finally not playing well. And this is what you gloat about?

Dont get me wrong, F the Islanders and their fans. But gimme a break

- Fakepartofme

I really really don't wanna back Roger's Rogerness, but the Islanders completely backed into their "success".

And Lou being named GM of the year, not just once, but twice, is absolutely laughable.

Does Gorton speak français? I'm shocked they'd hire an American anglophone for the job. They must be very desperate.

If they did hire Bergeron (or Marchand!) the entire franchise would probably implode. So I'm all for that narrative happening.

They've had great success since JT left. If the leafs had accomplished exactly what they've done the past several years, there would have been parades in Toronto.

The 21 games there was a league decision. The team can decide that he voided the terms of the code of conduct and seek to terminate his contract. They'd need league approval, who would also likely want to work _with_ the PA to do so, so you'd have to see where that all fits.

I see the obvious counter-argument for the PA: COVID, because it's become politicized, is a bigger hot-button issue and the vaccination requirements still do have a bit of a realistic legal challenge in front of them in terms of rights violations and so on . . . whereas, smuggling drugs over the border isn't so much of a grey area!

I agree with Wedgie - the only actual crime that the league could address, based on precedent, by contract termination is the forging of documents. The others are all just general Richardholery.

It seems to me that Gorton will be pulling the strings and they're going to have a bilingual orator for press conferences that will have the title of GM

Isnt Gorton an assistant GM or another position within the front office
Or was he hired as the GM? I thought I heard it was for another position

So Mathieu Darche makes perfect sense while he learns. He's a smart guy but a little green if he were to run things on his own.

Well I'm guessing Molson wouldn't have hired him if he didn't believe in his overall vision.

We'll see!
