I am also very very pro Leks. In a vacuum I'd absolutely try to keep him. Problem is that he's one of the only valuable assets this team has, the others are either too crap or signed too long. So do I want to keep Leks? Yes. Do I want more new shinies to go with what we expect to be the young core? Yes. But I don't think you can have both at the same time

But if the Habs go the youth / draft route, he would be a good guy to keep around to show work ethic and playing every shift.

That being said, there are probably 14-15 guys I'd rather trade first (even knowing some of those have untraceable contracts).

Something I suggested for Lehkonen somewhere else was maybe something like Leks for Hornqvist, Serron Noel and a 2nd or 3rd, that kind of deal. We'll get more value if we trade for a player with an extra year of contract.

The Habs should be looking at taking on contracts to get extra picks / prospects, especially with the extra LTR cap space they are building.

Use it to thier advantage.
