It's going to be Phil Kessel. Be prepared now and I honestly don't hate the idea

Kessel, Pavelski, Rakell... all potential options. Rakell may be the least likely given his age and likelihood a trade for him would have to come with an extension.

Not conditioning on that play. Horrible luck

Not bad conditioning, not bad luck, he was intentionally and illegally injured...

Kind of disagree. You watch that play in real time he didn't slew foot him, two skates hitting. Bad luck.

Also will Sammy Blais ever come back? I remember someone said he deleted his social media account cause Ranger fans were giving him hate. Then a week later gets this season ending injury. Just seems like this could throw is mental state over the edge.

Ever ice skate?
Subban is skating to his left with his weight on his left leg. He lifts his right leg up to kick up into Blais. This is why Subban almost face plants himself into the boards. It is NOT a natural skating motion.

Watch the video and then try and imitate it yourself on ice skates. You will probably fall because it is not how you naturally skate and turn. This is clearly intentional.

The fact that he has done this numerous times in his career makes belief that this is a "one off" or simply an "accident" not believable in any way...

I just think PK has gotten so adept at doing that exact thing. Maybe he's not even thinking about it at this point and it is just a reflex (not excusing him for it. he should be punished on and off the ice for being a Richard)

Well if it was any other player I would think unlucky but Subban has a long history of this, just for the fact that people have made videos about it

You could fill a book with what a lot of Ranger fans don’t know. Idiots.

That was not a matter of conditioning, it was a questionable play by a player who has been getting away with it.

Blias has come in and performed admirably, this is a brutal injury for him. Terrible.

- OLDSCHOOL#6

I watched that play a dozen times, wanting to blame Subban the whole time. But, I didn't see anything there that makes me think this was an intentional dirty play (like the others ones certainly were).

try a baker's dozen

it's a pattern of behavior, i just doubt it's a coincidence. It sure seems like someone could effectively do the same thing as a slew foot by using their momentum and angling their foot instead of kicking through them. Anyone else besides PK and I probably wouldn't have thought anything, but you could definitely do what he did intentionally. Maybe you don't have an exact idea of what the outcome will be but it's at a decent rate speed and by the boards.

I said it earlier but i wouldn't even be surprised if all of these dirty slew foot-type plays by PK aren't even intentional in the sense that he just does it as a reflex at this point. Same outcome and still needs to be addressed on and off the ice but he just does it so effortlessly. The most generous take on this that i will allow is that he is just way too reckless in a very specific way and has failed to adjust accordingly

I absolutely and cordially disagree.
All the other incidents you see him in are dirty, calculated, DANGEROUS plays.
That is why I went looking for the video of this with pitchfork in hand. But, I don't see that type of movement this time. PK turns to his left. And when you try to do that quickly and sharply, your legs widen. That is what I saw.
But, given his history, I understand why he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.
