Lucas Raymond 19 years old with 17 points in 17 games. Are the rangers bad at developing or grabbing the wrong players - nyrangers2
If the Rangers didn't pick LaFreniere they would have taken Byfield and we would all still be drooling at "greener pastures."
This is where Brukie is correct about Panarin. Not the player part but the timing. Him being here accelerated the rebuild to a point that our young players were reigned in more than was probably expected. They get very little powerplay time which helps elevate stats a wee bit. A third of Stutzle's points are from the powerplay...Laffy has a grand total of 0pts on the PP.

I still think that they are going to be great players, maybe even elite at times. This team wasn't/isn't built like the traditional lottery winner. They had some seriously good pieces in place already. I'm starting to think that the timing for Panarin might be perfect. |

I only speak to the Panarin timing in regards to the "development" of our younger players and the want of some fans to see more point production. I love the fact that as our young guys do start figuring it out, I believe they will, the team will be primed to make a few deep playoff runs.

I know what you were saying. I also think that if they can shift some of those advanced metrics their way they could be looking at a playoff run this year.
If Shesty can continue to play at a high level and some of the kids start to get going this team could be a hard out in the playoffs. |

I agree with you- I think the timing will be perfect. Watching Panarin is eye delicious. Just letting the youngers guys watch how he plays will pay off for us. Rangers will be making a deep playoff run sooner than later. Our strength is on the back end and Gallant is soooooo much better than Quinn.
On a side note- I hope they move Chytl to the right side of Zib and CK20. I like Goody in the middle of the third line.

Get back to us with the stats for all three of them in 10 years. I could care less what someone else's player does in any one particular October. |

Ive said it countless times in regards to our young kids, as well as our regular roster players.
There are a couple of points when it comes to our kids, the first Ive said over and over which is to put them in a position to succeed. However secondly, are they playing a style of hockey that is conducive to their skill set? Furthermore, are they playing with the types of players that will get the best out of them?
I find that higher ups are so vested in Chytil that they refuse to try him at wing, draft other centers, or call up Barron to play in a 3C role. Personally, I think Chytil would be better on the wing, I dont think hes a particularly good center.
The one thing that I think could be hurting the kids is, the team is expected to be a playoff team. So the ideology on the ice is a bit different from a team like the Wings that has nothing to lose and only to gain. I think the coaching is a bit more rigid here where out there its more free wheeling and letting the kids figure it out.
But I do agree we rushed Kakko and LAF, and they should have gotten a season in the AHL, especially during the COVID year for LAF. We came into drafting them knowing their deficiencies and still thrust them into top 9 roles on the squad. |

Blais out for the year per brooks. Reaves has to do something next time they play. Or someone on the roster |

if you look at for fights only- but that 4th line has really been controlling play and cycling well. He leads the team in hit by a mile

4th line has been good but Reaves has to do something. Fight someone to swing momentum. |
