Ok. Ya I think it was me and about 20 other posters as well. But ok.
Your missing the point.
Turd suggested the pic screamed douche-bag...I just pointed out it most likely wasnt his idea to pose like that....so its not really on him (matthews). The sweater is just a sweater....I have no doubt it could be from his line.

Yeah, fashion is simply changing and let’s face it, he’s a young guy.

Whoever influenced his looks did so with success and he seems happy to consistently wear stuff like that, even outside of photoshoots

They have the best player in the league, and Draisaitl is also very good. If not for incompetent management this team would be one of the best. As Wedgie correctly pointed out, McDavid drew zero penalties in the playoffs - that is ridiculous. No other team sport offers less protection to their star players than the NHL. If you blow a garlic breath on a star quarterback in the NFL its a penalty, playoffs or not.

Dude I’ve watched the oilers since 79 and I know them well. Yes it was a farce that McDavid drew no penalties last playoffs. But it’s just as much of a farce having the penalties last night being 6-1 in favour of the oilers and they barely won.

Hey if he wants to spend thousands on a single outfit and wear it once and look stupid doing so then knock yourself out kid. It’s douchey no matter how it’s framed.

It's funny - in the NBA, they go out of their way to make sure that their stars can shine - including taking four or five steps with the ball.

In the NHL, the stars get punished by the referees - we feel the need to make sure everyone can compete at the same level.

And on a somewhat (but not too much) related note, I always remember something that Al Strachan once wrote: expansion (and a watered down talent base) is good for the game.

There used to be a huge disparity between the 1st and 4th lines - not anymore. Everyone is super-conditioned, super-coached, there are no goons who can't skate.

As a result, there are fewer mistakes. Players score off of the other team's mistakes.

If you bring in more players (i.e., expansion), hopefully the talent gets watered down a little, meaning more mistakes in the game.

I always loved Al Strachan. I still follow him on Twitter.

You say this like it’s a good thing. I have not watched an NBA game in decades because of poop like that. And have been watching less and less NFL every year. Pro sports in general is going to poop.

Lol but he’s not skiing

I’ve wondered for awhile that due to the music industry and the internet if the way people looked would start to become notably different. 10 years from now I’m willing to guess it will seem even crazier.

If only there was a way to avoid both catering to the stars AND not punishing the stars.

I wonder if a league would ever consider calling the rules in the rulebooK?

Ha ha, just kidding.

That's crazy talk.

It's all COVID-driven, in my humble opinion.

Ties are dead. Which is too bad, because I like ties. But no guy is ever going to button up his top button ever again.

You'll still see a few guys in finance and law wear the suits and ties - but only for important meetings.

Anyone not in finance and law? Chinos and jeans.

You already saw it in certain sectors, pre-COVID - I used to laugh/grimace at the digital teams showing up at work in hoodies and ripped jeans. IMHO it looked awful, but good luck hiring 20-somethings in digital if you enforce a dress code.

I would never, ever badmouth the 80s.

Him spending thousands on a single outfit is kinda the same as you and me spending $15 for at t-shirt while on vacation.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that it's a waste of money, but he can afford to waste it.

Don’t know the guy. Maybe he’s a douche. I have no real information to form an opinion on his personality. I envy those who can do so based on sweater selection. Life must be so much simpler.

You know how they hire hockey players to give their opinions on hockey?

And they hire architects to give their opinions on architecture?

Turdsie knows what he's talking about.

This was about 25 years ago - my wife's hockey team (more of a social club, which used the excuse of hockey tournaments to get lit) was organizing their Saturday night at their tournament (Westwood Arena - one of the nicest arenas in Toronto, if you don't count every other arena in Toronto).

Anyhoo, they had an email chain going, and someone proposed the Keg, to which one woman simply replied:

"I franking love the Keg."

She was right, of course.

I just realized that what I wrote appears like I'm putting down the Keg. That was not my intention.

I franking love the Keg.

I will edit.
