The thing I always respected about Stieb is he never tried to pretend he wasn't a miserable S.O.B.

Crotch grab while staring at the batter after EVERY PITCH. 😂😂

I see more than a little Dave Stieb in our young gem Alec Manoah. 👍

Ya, I think Robertson would have to steal a spot in the top 9. Another 1/2 season in the A is probably a good thing.
- The Law

His waiver exemption virtually guarantees he'll be up and down this season... unless he starts absolutely ripping it up in with the Buds.

I tend to agree -- as much as Nick is a digger and super-intense, he's not what AM34-Marner need on their line.

I'm really hoping Ritchie fits the bill as he has the size, tenacity, and pedigree to be effective on that line. Just hoping he's not sucked in to some stupid penalties.

- mjones242

Ritchie will be a fantastic top line winger if you want to speed and skill plays die in a black hole.

He's not a top six forward.

Yeah I agree, hoping Keefe has an immediate chat with him if he’s playing too rough.

I actually hope Keefe doesn't have that chat with Nick Ritchie

They don’t need skill for that line, they need a big bugger who can play rough and park himself in front of the net. Matthews and Marner only need to use him as a screen.

AM34-Marner don't need Ritchie to be a "speed and skill" guy on their line. They need a player who can win battles in the corner, wreak havoc in front of the net, and break faces when his linemates are being bullied.

He's perfectly suited to play with superstars.

Pretty much this. If Ritchie can use his size to create some space / havoc / screening, draw D to him and indirectly protect Marner and Matthews, he'll do more than what we need. He scored at a 22 goal pace on a 3rd line in Boston last year. He's not an offensive dynamo, but he can score.

Based solely on WAR, Stieb should have gotten the Cy Young in 1981, 1982, 1983, and 1984.

Bret Saberhagen had him slightly beat in 1985.

Stieb should be in the (frank)ing Hall of Fame.

1985 Jays were my favourite team.

As I replied to your first post about it I don’t think Ritchie needs to lead that line in any way shape or form.

Just be the big bastard who parks himself in front of the net.

I admittedly have a bit of a bias about that tho… my cousin Warren Rychel was nothing but a 4th line fighter but Barry Melrose put him on Gretzky’s line in the 93’ playoffs. His job was to protect 99 and park himself in front of the net, nothing more. He ended up being in the top ten of scoring after the first two rounds.

So yeah that’s kind of my mindset for Ritchie playing with Marner and Matthews

Ah ok cool so you do see my reasoning I’m thinking this.

Believe me I don’t expect him to lead that line whatsoever

Sadly, I was way too young to remember that team. Then again, their Leafs-like post-season demise that year was pretty sad.

They look like they were one helluva fun lineup though!

Making my way through season 1 of The Sopranos with my wife. She's Italian and, for some reason, has never seen the series.

Gotta get through 6 seasons with her before I'm able to watch Saints. I'm not entirely unhappy about that.

I will not be at all surprised when Ritchie is not on the first line. Let's see who's foolish.

I made the mistake of watching the Sopranos on A&E in random order - would basically just watch whatever episode was on.

I liked it, but I surely would have liked it more if I had watched it in chronological order.

I wasn’t calling you foolish I was saying if he’s going to end up on that line it will be to play physical and park himself in front of the net and that’s it. Believing it’s for his skill is what I would consider foolish.

Why is CP24 showing the results of Ontario elections on tv right now, when they can’t start counting votes until 9:30 pm?

Let's just say rarbg is my friend.

A NAS (Synology is my choice) and Plex Server make for a sweet home video experience.
