If Calgary gets Eichel, then Taylor Hall will demand a trade to join him. Hall is from Calgary and always dreamed of going home.

If Tkachuk was for sale, who would get the higher return?

Future captain Tkachuk
Neck surgery Eichel

I hate to break this to you. MT and BT are coming home at the earliest possibility. I highly doubt he will sign long term in Calgary. Its been his dream to be a blue like his pops

Ya I bet. Nothing like staying in your hometown to live in your Dads shadows, instead of challenging yourself to take on a new Country and carve your own path.

Wouldn't it be great if instead of Monahan it was Backlund going the other way. Could put Lindholm back on right wing and have a solid top 6
McJohnny, Eichel, Tkachuk
Lindholm, Monahan, Mangiapani

- K-man25

Backlund won't get the deal done. I'm not sure Monahan would.

But a top 9 of:
Gaudreau, Eichel, Mangiapane
Tkachuk, Lindholm, Coleman
Lucic, Backlund, Dube

Seems to work for me.

That top 9 actually has me excited for the first time in a long time regarding the flames. If there is any way they can get that Eichel deal done without sending out Chucky, Mangi etc, I think you have to do it. Monahan plus and picks would be ideal, but not sure its enough.

With a 4th line of Lewis, Pitlick and Ruziska (Or other) im liking the looks of this squad, hopefully a littler more balanced, and tougher to play against.

Why would Buffalo do that?

Why wouldn't Buffalo do that? Bigger question is why would the Flames do that.

Monahan can easily be flipped for a 1st & maybe another asset if Adams just want picks & not keep Monahan. Im sure Rangers would be interested for picks for Mony.
Interesting as the cap isnt such a factor when Monahan's 6.375 is eliminated & we add Eichels 10.0. Huge risk but I can see a river boat gambler like Treliving throwing the dice. 2 years left on both his & Sutters deals & Sutter quoted as saying Flames need a #1 C. I would think they are both on the same page on this. Some of the packages we throw around as fans seem pretty steep & fair but I imagine Adams is asking for even more. Crazy stuff.

Newsflash. Calgary isn't going anywhere whether they somehow aquire Eichel or not. Calgary needs to hit the rebuild button. I'm sorry but their core isn't getting it done and the Pacific division (is the worst division in hockey). Next

I'd even actually consider including Dube. With Coronato eventually in the mix as a RW, if it gets an Eichel Trade done then I would consider it. Also would be better on a Cap situation to help with having to re-sign Tkachuk and Gaudreau next year.

Monahan
Pelltier
Dube
Valimaki
2022 1st

For Eichel and maybe something in a bottom pairing Defenceman. Or Tokarski to backup Markstrom.

Kevyn Adams over values draft picks so much that he will never do a deal that doesn't bring back at least a 1st and a second pick that is a 3rd or better. He has way over played his hand. This is melting down bad. Jack doesn't want to be here and everyone knows it. Crazy that for the last 5 years in a row I have gone into each season thinking "this is the darkest its ever been it can't possibly get worse...."

John of the Cross, "Dark Night of Soul"

You have done a nice job of describing the downward descent into the pit of hockey despair. But, we also know that the "light" breaks through from below. The deeper you go into the pit the closer you are to a true transformative moment. Perhaps Eichel is that moment. We don't know.

But most hockey fans believe Sabre fans deserve better.

I actually think Monahan, Pelletier, Dube and a 2022 1st would be a good exchange. Both Monahan and Eichel likely not healthy to start the season. Monahan is not a long-term fit, but if he gets some game back after his hip surgery Sabres could likely flip him for a 1st next off-season. Dube is a promising forward (does have a concussion issue). Pelletier could center a top line in Rochester this season with Quinn and maybe Peterka. It will likely be a mid round 1st, but Jack could really click with Johnny Hockey and get Calgary back in the playoffs.

Id have to reluctantly agree, even though I love Dube, his next contract could put us in trouble with re-signing Chucky and potentially Johnny. But that might have to be the payment to get buffalo to pull the trigger.

Flames have reported Monahan had his surgery & went well & will be fully ready for training camp. Problem is Monahan has a limited NTC & Buffalo maybe on that list of teams he can nix. Might mean Flames would either flip Monahan ourselves to get that extra 1st or we get a 3rd team in the transaction.
That offer is really pricey, but if it meant keeping Gaudreau & Tkachuk & Lindholm, it would be interesting high risk move but might be worth doing.

Too much, either Valamaki or Peletier would need to be taken out of that equation. Probably Valamaki as we are short on D in our pipeline.

You're probably right my friend! Id almost rather Vali, just cause who knows, did we see the real Vali last year? And we dont even know what Pelletier is, and I feel like he could be a Gallagher type player. If Vali doesnt get traded, I hope he bounces back here big time!
